lost another one today. I noticed it was damn weak about an hour ago and the wing went down, it was weak and could not stand or walk. I isolated it. I went to check minutes ago and found it dead. |

Redomi:Sorry about the loss. Okay, let me chip in a few tips to help prevent further losses. I for one, take into account little details and don't try cutting corners when carrying out any projects. I make sure a well detailed program covering cost, management & sales before taking any steps. I asked you some questions earlier because I wanted to draw your attention to a few pitfalls in your brooder setup that could prevent you having almost zero mortality (absolutely possible). Point 1: Please and please, go get feeding trays for your birds and while at that, make provision for flip top feeders. Point 2: Please raise your drinkers off the floor a little to prevent constant contamination from the sawdust/woodshaving you are using. Also remove the drinkers from being to close to the wall, I can see some at tight corners. Point 3: I really can't get a full view of your brooder makeshift room but you could try restricting your birds in a small place. I can see some on elevated grounds/slaps. Point 4: I want to believe you started them off on the sawdust or woodshaving from day one? My point 4 will be based on your answer... Next is your broiler program. God's speed. |

Was very happy initially that I was getting it right with one mortality as a newbie in brooding, never knew my worst day was coming. I searched for top feed before their arrival but didn't see, so I bought prime starter, never knew I will be killing my birds with that feed( Ogun kill who produce prime feed) now almost all my birds are paralyzed and I have lost 3 birds so far still expecting one to die before dawn. If not for the early intervention of Mr Neologe I would have lost all my 50 broilers but God pass devil. I have mixed bone meal to the chikun feed I bought and calcium to their drinking water, I pray this help. Men! birds paralysis na bastard |

Redomi:Please do. Also, adhere to the broiler chart available to you. All will be well. Redomi:Lol ![]() In as much as I am advocate for organics, I still advice people to learn the basics (conventional ways). In my honest opinion, there are a lot of jagbanjantis out there in the name of herbal treatments for birds . Everyone don dey turn chicken native doctors without knowing what works or not. My answer to your organic question is; before that day eventually comes for you to do organics, read up various articles, research works, publications, reviews etc. |

jidestroud:I adhere to all chat sent sir. I noticed they are always happy when I light the charcoal or anything there is light. They'll be running up and down . On organic, I will like to try it out on noiler next year. Please is there difference between boilers and Kuroilers? I thought they are same |

Good day pros' in the house, My carpenter is in the process of completing a 2 step battery cage with floor made of wire mesh. The measurement of the cage is 10 feet by 3 feet and 4 feet height for each step. Making a total area of 30 square foot x 2=60 square foot. I intend keeping layers for egg sake. My question; 1. How many full grown layers can the 2 step cage take in total? 2. Is it better to start with day old chicks or with point of lay chickens? Which is more profitable? Any helpful hint is welcomed. |
| Re: Xmas Broiler Broading In Pictures by noeloge82(op): 10:15pm On Sep 05, 2020 |
Djbush:In a 30 square foot cage if I am to put laying birds I will not put more than 12 birds so for the double I will put 24 Birds Doc chicks is very good but if ur considering time make sure your very sure of the source of point of lay |

Chevrolet076:You said the birds have saliva stuck in its mouth , unfortunately this has eaten deep on the bird but buy EST MIX or AMPROLIUM 20/20 and give all the birds for 5 days u can usu syringe to give this one if its very weak to take treatment |

Redomi:Feeder trays will be fine now cos if u use other bigger feeders some may find it difficult to feeder as d feeder will be bigger than them |

noeloge82:I thought EST mix or Amprolium is used in treating Coccidiosis, if so, I have ADACOX which I've been using since... but as I Google searched, my observations seems to mirror into IBD(Gumboro) but I've never come across a chick that has that infection.... so I couldn't just conclud... can you look more into this please... ![]() |
| Re: Xmas Broiler Broading In Pictures by jidestroud(m): 11:46am On Sep 06, 2020 |
@chevrolet076 My oga Noel's prescription is spot on. As prescribed for you, get the Est Mix wsp and administer to your birds. If you can lay your hands on viral mix or any of it substitutes, administer along with it. I suspect CRD as the culprit in this case but not limited to it. A picture of the birds could go a long way in giving further analysis. Moreover, what's the medical record of your birds? You said 6 weeks right? Have a blessed Sunday!!! |
