More than half of those who'll comment here are ignorant about the two professions.

Stick to which you are comfortable with.
Am a pharmacy student and can practice in any country when am through. All it requires is obtaining the said country's license through series of exams.

So Ignore those talking about which is more useful abroad and all.

You just go back, look at the two courses and make a decision. If you don't like chemistry avoid pharmacy.
Gracia man... Is it possible to change be a biochemist to pharmacist in future?

Haha u can't even disprove one thing I've said above with facts. Best u can do is to come under like someone with low IQ and make one general statement that says nothing. There will always be more job openings for nursing than for pharmacy and nurses will always earn more than pharmacists.
..
OK.

Hmmm,op from experience, none ,i repeat none of my friends who did Nursing in Nigeria are unemployed.
I don't know of pharmacy but i know Nursing to be highly employable after graduation, even the ones who attended school of Nursing.
And their pay is lovely,to be on a better side, ask a medical doctor to help tailor your opinion, atleast he won't be biased.
What do you mean by school of nursing? Are you saying Bsc Nursing is above them all.

Nursing

A universal discipline unlike pharmacy whose Nigerian certificate won’t allow you to make professional practice in correct countries.

To practise as a pharmacist in UK, one will need a year course to convert one’s certificate known as OSPAP diploma certificate before the professional exam. Unlike nursing which one can even use Nigeria diploma in nursing to write the CBT
What do you do for a living?

Re: Pharmacy Vs Nursing: Which Is More Lucrative? by Paromarc: 12:33pm On Sep 07, 2020
Do not build your future based on people's opinions and recommendations; that's why a lot of Nigerian students struggle with their course of study, because they are trying to fulfill the parents wish of having a doctor, lawyer, pharmacist, engineer etc. Deep inside you, you know what you really want and you also know your capabilities.

So just do basic research and go for it. If your choice is money-oriented, go for pharmacy because just a photocopy of your license alone can make you money. wink

Oh, so when you were labeling some people extortionists and lustful you thought such uncouth, presumptuous and unprofessional language was kosher, but not when you are at the receiving end? Right?

If you have no skin for insults, then don't start it. I am not any of the things you described in your post, just someone that is perfectly capable of dishing you back the hand that you deal.

However, if you have plans of remaining in Nigeria forever....

No. They are not dsame.
BnSc is far above diploma certificates which school of nursing issues.
Note> diploma certificate issues by school of nursing isn't regarded as accademic diploma hence you cannot use it to further ur education being that hospitals are not meant to award academic certificate.

all I can say is that we shouldn't use the excuse of going abroad to deceive the innocent op. she should go for nursing if she loves taking care of people and seeing people recover. she should go for pharmacy if she loves outreach and answering to people's needs on time. i rather be a pharmacist than be a nurse because I will be very sound in drugs. medicine is for the prestige and nothing more. how much do nurses earn when they work with government 120k at most and 300k. If you work for like 20years. what is the need of me studying a course if I can't use it in Nigeria. Nigeria has a lot of brain drain in pharmacy. ineptitude of hospitals in purchasing facilities. I won't advice any pharmacist to work in hospitals. The richest health professionals in the world own pharmaceutical industries and make a lot of dollars. Red Rock can't match that. As a young pharmacist you make money early live a balanced life and not always on calls. how much does an intern doctor earn 120k. at most 150k. before you can make 300k and above, it is either you are a consultant 0or work in a multinational company. This means you must have worked for at least 5 years after internship. now calculate this 7 years course plus internship and at least 5years residency making it 13 years excluding strike some time even fifteen years and what about entering a residency another problem. sorry for drifting go for nursing or for pharmacy. you don't really need residency for pharmacy but you need guidance. There other courses like optometry and dentistry and many more. I know all of these because I have friends in the health sector

Point of correction, intern doctors earn at least 140k excluding tax, accommodation. And at most 220k excluding tax and accommodation.
Don't let ur anger or hate towards doctors drive u into saying lies.
Thank you.

Pharmacy.
Drugs are brought in bulk and sold at very high profits.
Nurses only administer what doctors recommend and gives care to patients. Nurses are paid by doctors but it's from pharmacists you get recommendations and buy certified drugs. My personal observations.

How are Nurses paid by Doctors

This must be happening only in Nigeria though.

In most Advanced Countries the Nurses are paid by the Company or Hospitals they work for.

Nurses can work Independently if the Nurses acquire the Advanced Degree such as Nurse Practitioners.

didn't you see when I apologised for drifting? i rather include medicine in my opinion because kids out here in nairalamd don't know what it is. I am very sure you are a medical student . Some think it is just a seven year course, one year internship and a pay check and i laugh to this. my brother who has been practicing for 7years now wants to leave Nigeria because of poor pay and incessant strikes and dilapidated facilities. If you are a medical student or you know one tell them to gidi up. It is not how it used to be better pray for the grace of God and do not talk foolishly. i just even gave you a hint on how medicine work placement is and you are here saying nonsense. pray for the favour of God all else na FMC kogi you go land and you will understand

you are appreciated..
