Nonsense
Make una dey pay our teachers abeg.
You can never hear of politicians not being payed their salaries and they are payed the highest.
How much are the staff being payed.
The way our leaders joke with education in this country is alarming.
Exactly, I'm sure anything our teachers are demanding can't be too much.
Look at how much we spend running those two useless legislative Chambers; plus the extra 36 littered all over the country

Unfortunately, the public is completely oblivious to what is happening in the academia. Before you support this government, ask yourself how much they are paid. They are paid minuscule, meager and paltry stipends as salaries after spending years to bag their PhD. Betterstill, compare them to their counterparts in Africa (Not even abroad this time) and see the hell they are going through.

With all their expertise and sacrifice, being paid $350/Month. Out of it, they will pay exorbitant house rent, crazy transportation fare, publish articles from it and even sponsor theirselves for local and international conferences sometimes.

Never have we had students join this struggle for once to ask the government for their rights ( infrastructure, facilities, fundings, welfare etc). All we say is that, “let me finish on time jare” not knowing our younger ones will also bear the brunt.

How many times have we seen our legislators, senators or government officials being owed of their allowances let alone salary? For the records, go and ask any lecturer how much he or she makes after spending years for BSc, Msc, Phd and post doc. Whereas one government official is sitting down doing nothing yet earning.

God help us! In Saner climes, the public will join hands in this fight but here, we only condemn people who wants to make things work. If we had collectively fought against the levity in handling bokoharam issues, it would have been forgotten issue but no, it doesn’t concern us since we are in the south- and that’s the problem.

Again, God help us.

Some Nigerians only read News' headlines and jump into conclusion. This is Management's fault not FG.
Re: UNICAL ASUU Members Protest Over Backlog Of Financial Entitlement by Jman06(m): 4:08pm On Sep 09, 2020
Nonsense!

FG should please stop paying lecturers whenever they go on strike! The fact that they get paid even while on strike is the reason for their continual strikes!

Go on strike and forfeit all salaries for the period the strike lasts! Enough of wasting our resources on people who are not willing to work!!!!

As for the current strike, they can continue till eternity for all I care! I have since moved on with my hustling business.

This non payment of salaries to lecturers is uncalled for. Politicians are never owed a fine despite their fat allowances
Only lecturers who are not on strike deserve salaries! Those on strike should never be paid!

It is not enough to vie for big political positions o..
A VC earns about 1m thereabouts but too small to run for big political offices like NA & Guber.

Don't pay a dime until they come up with a vaccine for COVID 19. They embarked on strike when we needed them most.

You may not be correct, strike is a legal too in labour laws anywhere, and as a matter of fact, legally recognize by ILO. Workers are free to go on strike when necessary during labour disputes and are not to be victimize in any way by the employer. But the concept of no work no pay is illegal. That is why it has never worked, all these monies owed to them will still be paid to the last kobo at last. So, why owe in the first place?
Again, note that ASUU case in particular is as a result of a series of agreements and MoUs which the government has violated severally after signing.
Before you misjudge ASUU again, such agreements are not all about their pockets(though they are poorly paid), but for the overall improvement of our almost worthless education system.

exactly how to live in Nigeria now. Just make your own money hook or crook and mind your own darn business. No need fighting to change the country for good. You'll be alone if you attempt to. You're warned.

Once it can be guaranteed +90% fair & free.....You know you can't misbehave, otherwise we vote you out.

But you know, INEC is not TRULY Independent.

Strike is a legal tool but when lecturers abuse it by going on unnecessary prolonged strikes without considering the plight of students, then government has a duty to find a way of making them pay some unpleasant prices. Even if they'll eventually get paid, they should never be paid during the period of the strike and the payment should be delayed when they return to work. In fact, the money should be paid in a way that it'll not be useful to them.

Striking for a whooping six months while subjecting students to psychological trauma is a serious offence that deserves commensurate punishment!
