Please I noticed most of the shower floors in Nigeria are not tiled with unglazed porcelain mosaic tiles. Apart from cost, is there any other reason this type of tile is not used for our shower floors in Nigeria?

Well, some folks do like it , bless their heart.

But for me, nah nah... I will pass. I just can't find a place in my heart to accept it. It hides the beauty of the house, makes it look creepy..it is just...nah nah, I still can't find a place in my heart to accept it.

But people do like it though and I admire their courage.!!

I am surprised! Beautiful carpet grasses hides the beauty of house? Is it concrete that shows the beauty? Nothing beats a well maintained lawn and flower plants in any build environment. Over "concretization" of build surroundings in Nigeria is making it seems normal. Anyway, every mallam to his own kettle. Green scenery anytime, any day for me.

It is not about maintenance....

As it happens, my eyes doesn't seem to behold the beauty of creepy carpet grass. grin

It’s about maintenance for me. It costs a lot to maintain a great lawn.

I can’t do those creepy plants on my building tho but I can still live with climbing plants in arches (Pic 2)

This is a faceless forum. It’s not WWE Arena. It’s filled with different kinds of people from different background.

A smart businessman don’t have any preference when choosing his customers. Instead, he learn how to adjust and manage different types of people and emotions. He’s not in a conquest grin

Some customers are silent while others are vocal. Your job is to serve them and deliver a good job.

I once asked an architect here to go and attend to one of my projects as I can’t commit to new projects due to extremely busy schedule.
He had discussions with the client but because the client don’t know how to express himself very well and he’s a novice in design and architecture, he went to design a bungalow for him.

When I asked him the reason for this, he said the environment does not worth committing too much resource and I doubt the client can do much. undecided

I stepped in and designed a massive duplex for the same client in the same environment, upgrade some features in the area (change the electricity poles, installed solar streetlights, introduce new fence design to the small community, did earth road etc) and the project attracted even far more bigger projects into the area.

Your next big client might be a loud mouth or an introvert. Your job is to serve him and not to size him up.

Be a smart business guy! This is not a beer parlour joint where you throw shades at people. Everyone here is a potential customer.

I hope you got value!

Golden words you typed.

While I don’t hire from here as a matter of policy (I support my local community) I do recommend people from here to others that are in their zone of operations. And I do so vigorously because of my believe in a new Nigeria.

I feel sorry for any serious business owner on here that’s truly looking for business that allows his brand to get involved in beer parlor gists and personal vendettas that’s been brewing here probably while they’re still carrying poun poun under some Oga.

The world is a small place now.

Based on my persona on here (good/bad/indifference) I get a lot of offline contact that seeks opinion on artisans on here. Some I recommend and some I just answer that they should dig into the archives.

A lot of the blowhards that goad the business brands on are doing so anonymously and thus have nothing to loose.

Are you here to turn ten cents to fifty or you’re here for beer parlor brouhaha?

I think the general problem we have in Nigeria is lack of maintenance culture. You can't compare the beauty an aesthetic lawn and flowers will add to the beauty of the house to that of concrete. Majority of people like natural grass and it's smoothness but the maintenance is what we lack as a nation and individual. There is life in nature...

Well done.
You must really be a prudent and disciplined person.

it all dependent on your pocket size.
1 battery
2 panels
Accessories maybe 50k. I use inverter AC and it carries my Washing machine. It not the size of your apartment, usage is key.

During the day, I only use tv especially during cold weather, all lights are off during the day, you use light when you need it. The AC works for maximum 6hrs and then I cool off with the fan.

It a 3-bedroom apartment.

This is a typical Victorian castle. Very common in England/Ireland and other parts of Europe. It is not a rocket science. The issue will be on the landscaping as landscape architecture is a scarce profession in Nigeria. But I think if well motivated, Brabus or Skimanski may make it happen. The carpet grass on the walls are easily found here as I planted it near my fence wall and they are circulating already. Though It does take time to cover the whole area.

I love green space, I have green fingers and all but my love for greenery does not include love for creepy creeping grass grin grin

What kind of grass is recommended for Nigerian weather? I mean, if I am looking at getting a new lawn, what kind of grass should I be looking at?

You are very correct.
As much as you can, folks should not fall for the artificial scarcity. Plan and wait if you can and it doesn't impact your project schedule, otherwise we indirectly contribute to the pressure of demand vs supply.

Lafarge, which is even not as readily available as Dangote on a good day, still delivered to us @ N2,500 yesterday. We will adjust our schedule to wait for the next truck delivery whenever they are willing to sell at same price.

We have decided to pace our project and will not fall for the trap to buy cement @ 2700 or 3k unless there is an official price increase from manufacturer (which is not the case just yet).

The rains are here and projects will slow down. Demand will reduce and lead to a supply glut, thereby keeping price the same... all things being equal.

Cheers.

loffers:

I think it's mere speculation by the dealers, made payment for 200bags today at N2,600 per bag in Abuja.

The dealer said she got goods yesterday but not selling them for now, expecting another truck by tomorrow.
After much persuasion, she agreed to sell at N2,700 per bag just for me or wait for new deliveries

There are few grasses here and the common name for them are Portharcourt grass, water grass and carpet grass. The most rugged among them is the Portharcourt one.

The common name for it here is Portharcourt. It is rugged and can withstand harsh weather and if not we'll watered during the day season it will survive till next raining season.

How can one maintain carpet grass when it’s overgrown? It can’t be mowed and it’s not looking nice again.

You can use the hand cut machine to cut it because mower machine won't cut it well because they do not grow evenly.
