Thanks a lot!!

I'd go and look for a panelbeater now.

The immobilizer box is the one I'd have to loosen the wipers to get to?

Immo box is inside the car, under the dash below the steering wheel

Okay I've opened the roof water passage (going from sunroof to sidewall (loosened that panel with the handle) and they aren't blocked, or blocked anymore, I blew air through to be sure on both sides.

I forgot to test with water before doing it but the water I pour on the roof now drains to the ground.

Could it be coming in through windscreen?

valarinz:

Get a panel beater to clear your roof water passage, it's most likely blocked by debris, reason why water enters your car via the frame.

What i think you should do now is get the immobilizer box out and blow it dry, then fix the water leakage and hope no permanent damage has already occurred to the immobilizer

I've seen the immobilizer box and there's water on it.

I loosened the wipers and plastic panel under the windscreen and can see this puddle.

It seems the drain there is blocked, causing a puddle to stand which might be causing the water to get into the passenger compartment?

This is turning to DIY Saturday grin

So I've loosened the wiper motor and that black plastic cover over the Immo box,

2 of the screws are without the rubber gasket.

I'm suspecting the water in on the immobilizer box might be as a result of these missing gaskets.

I'd go to the parts market now if I can find them.

Then look for who can unclog those drainage holes I found under the windscreen I feel when water collects there it rises and pours into that big air intake (or so) and floods the passenger compartment from there.

Blockage solved grin

That drain under the windscreen was blocked totally with mud, allowing water to sit which was getting into the screws over the Immo box without gaskets.

I've unblocked one and drying out the Immo box,
Unblocking the other then I'd pour the 2nd bucket of water to see if water still gets in the footwell.

I didn't find the gaskets so I kazeemized them using the rubber from some old suspension parts and my drill

Seems I'd have to go get who'd take off my mats and clean out all the water under

good work so far, I can’t recommend my mechanic Ette in ph for you because he’s supposed to be a bricklayer or yam pounder instead of touching cars but there’s a Volvo parts dealer at Ikoku coming from ikwerre road, I think they can help you there

cheesy after what PH mechanics did with my last cars I'm scared of them touching this one.

10 screws out, 3 in, the rest no mean anything angry

Okay problem 2 (or 3?)

xc90 3.2l

The passenger power seat controls and 12v socket on the dash no longer work.

They worked perfectly before.

Googling tells me that there is a relay inside the immobilizer box that needs to be replaced (no courage to go there)

Anyone experienced this before?

Also where is the Engine serial number located in the 3.2l?

what do you need the engine serial for?

use your VIN for registration and whatever it is you are trying to do

Unless you are ready to pull out your engine you are on a long thing, its stamped on the engine block underneath and also on a sticker under the timing belt cover

- Ah, I'd use the VIN jare.
I was asking because I've had a car where I used the VIN as engine number and I kept being delayed by our "friends" on interstate trips when using it.

- I've checked all the fuses and they're okay, there's a 25a fuse by the door and 5a fuse under the dashboard that controls it, I checked them even replaced to be double sure but no difference.

Is it possible water can come in through the cover of the immo box?

The other drainage issues have been resolved but it rained heavily last night and the alarm went off, radio started playing, etc.

There is water on the CEM again.

I called a volvo person this morning and he has no idea were else it can be coming from too.

Yes I'm suspecting it did.

Because the I used both the seat and 12v socket,

Then seat was loosened,

Then water issue

Then seat re-installed and both weren't working.

Assuming all your drain tubes are clear, Its possible you to have a leak on the windshield, was it ever replaced?

Yes, although, I got the water inside on the pld windscreen the day before it was replaced too.

Who would test for the windscreen leak? A panel beater?

Kindly take your car to railway line by Emekuku street (D.Line), there's a volvo workshop (Electrician & Mechanic) there and let them sort you out. Guys are quite good.

Is there meant to be a rubber seal/gasket all around the windscreen?

I'm just noticing I don't have one and no similar car around to check but my other car and others around have it.

Thanks for the plug,

Met Austin,

According to him the car is built to be waterproof even if submerged so we have to take seats and front mats off then pour water on the car and observe.

That would be a next week adventure, parking under a car port till then

Did that before asking,

You'd need high definition photos to see what's in the the 1cm wide line clearly.

Not to worry checked a couple similar cars and there are a couple plastic pieces missing I'd look for next week.

Why am I seeing this car everywhere I look? Is God telling me to buy Volvo? Or my village people are trying to revisit my long abandoned matter?
