The weather at Obudu Mountain Resort right now is 13 degrees Celsius. The Obudu mountains is the only place it snows in Nigeria.

Oban Hills close to Calabar gets as low 15 degrees . those are the coldest places in Cross River and one of the coldest in Nigeria . Jos Plataeu state and Mambila Hills in Taraba get quite cold too.

Bros, I've never heard that it snowed in Obudu o!!! And not in Jos either! Hail in Jos yes, perhaps in Obudu too, but never heard of snow.

If it had indeed snowed, we would have heard it on soicial media.

I was at Obudu Mountain Resort recently and had a good time. I saw some foreign people there too. The place still looks very beautiful like Europe despite low domestic patronage . Maybe they need good managers and marketing team, and a good road network connection.
I've come to realize that average Nigerians just don' have the spending power ,and that's why most businesses like Resorts and shopping centers don't thrive too well .

A business thrives when local and foreign consumers combine, It won't thrive if it's only patronized by foreign. Even rich Nigerians prefer to vacation abroad. The Nigerian spending power is too low and needs to be boosted before such places can thrive.

The idea of resorts and national parks like Tinapa, Obudu Mountain resort, Cross river National park, etc. are great, if not for the low spending power of average Nigerian.
For now, it's just a shame.
Pls Op how much did you pay to enter... Am thinking of taking my wife there for her Birthday.

The super highway is great if only it will not disrupt the wildlife and nature , But I just think Cross River does not have the funds to accomplish a lot since they lost the oil wells to Akwa ibom ,but the Governor is trying his best .

The super road network is magnificent. for those that love natural features..i do recommend the site for you, just visit the site once..you will appreciate God almighty. in terms of the artificial or man made features there its only the road network that is still in good condition.
the cable car facilities not functioning at all
hospitality are degenerating
swimming pool is in a pitiable condition.

Note: as large as the site is, no mosquito could be found there.
the weather can change to four different types in a day.
there is also a place there if you climb the hill to the top, you can view part of cameroon

the site is amazing...trust me

They better change the name of that place from "cattle" ranch to just "resorts" otherwise, they will wake up one day and see a thousand herd of Fulani cattle at their gates walking majestically to their new home.
The name is Obudu Mountain Resort (formerly known as the Obudu Cattle Ranch)

Firstly Obudu does not look like Europe. It looks like Nigeria with appropriate infrastructure needed to explore such a location. I do however agree with you that somehow we are hoping as Nigerian's that other people will come and visit our locations for us and suddenly they would be hyped and popular. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. The domestic interest and consumption must be established in Country first, especially in the case of Nigeria as we have a lot of issues that make Nigeria less attractive for outsiders. Like Europe? Not like the Amazon?

Modified
If anyone is interested in seeing scenic places and landscape, Europe is not the second or third choice. Australia, New Zealand, the South America and even Asia 'are' comparable and comes to mind; Obudu is a deep, and same with Amazon, so you can compare...that is the idea behind this remark. Really interesting that I have been referred to as having inferiority complex for such a simple assertion, question and clarification.
Obudu should not be compare to the amazon forest at all but maybe the Cross river National Park can. Obudu is mountainous with lot of grass and sparse forest vegetation.

Thank you for your assertion. Nigerians really need to start appreciating their own. If you rubbish it then don't expect anybody somewhere to come and appreciate it for you.

As for me the memory of my visit to obudu ranch still lingers.. More needs to be done in terms of publicity and infrastructure to encourage people that here is better than Europe or Asia. I wish to do my honeymoon there someday.

Who says we don't appreciate.

I tried severally years ago to book a trip there. You can not any information about it. Only a few blogs will tell you their experience at the site but not how to get there or book a trip.

No information on costs, facilities or availability. It's the management that are not serious.

Go online you can't find any information on any tours. I love short weekend trips. Even if it is to badagry or ogun state.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The place is really beautiful. I spent two days there with a friend and spent ~100K or a little less. The climate is really good and I encourage anyone to follow suit. Any Nigerian can afford this, the problem is we’re not exposed enough mentally. The bad road network to go there, sha, I suffered back aches for four days. From the mountain upwards and down is smooth sailing.

I have been their twice....really love that place.....

In this part of the world we are addicted to foreign things....tourism is a big business. But most nigerians prefer to spend their money abroad......this is what countries like bahamas, kenya, south africa, egypt, france, italy, israel, uae, seychelles, uk, japan are using to boost their economy...

Yeye country and bunch of uncivilized people....there was a time when i wanted to visit osogbo for osun festival. They declined saying all kinda craps. That they are xtians. But they quick to visit israel and saudi arabia all in the name of their brainwashed religions.....but ignorantly unaware that they boosting isreal and saudi arabia tourism industries......

I saw what you did there. Lowered the mic on the negatives and increased volume on the positive especially as regards nature.

Video was quite "empty" though. Thanks anyway

I think it is probably due to the high cost.
Those who can afford it are think of spending time outside the country.
Those who would like to spent time there cannot afford it
and
The others cant even be bothered because they are struggling for survival

You thinks I wont jump at an opportunity for a one week break at Obudu Mountain Resort with my beautiful lovely wife?

Cheers

Apart from lodging, what are the cost to tour there as well as cost to transport to Oburu from calabar
touring around isn't expensive..! just some little sorting around..
A trip from Calabar to obudu main town is just 3k but u would need to embark on another journey to the ranch. which will cost u around #1,500 to bottom hill, where u can either board the cable car or a bike to the top mountain. it depends on your budget anyway.!

Lol. I was in obudu last month. From calabar to obudu mountain resort itself is 9 hours+.. Obudu moutain resort is like 5000ft above ground level, don't expect to lodge in an hotel nearby u can only stay at the accommodation provided by the resort itself. U r not Going to oniru beach that u can easily leave and lodge in an hotel in vi or lekki.

Once u get to obudu mountain u r dere already u oy leave when u r done.. All in all its a beautiful place but make sure u know where u r going before u leave. It's super cold too because it's a very high place!!!
