I had always advised people not to update from device manager (windows update rather). It's better to download the file as ISO and install offline. Naija network no stable.

Your laptop may not show charging cos it's full. most Dell laptops turn charging light off once full.

For probable solution, remove battery and disconnect charger, press power button for 1 min then connect only charger and try turning it on. if that doesn't work then visit a technician.

a software can not cause this, this seems to be an hardware problem, the pc might already have an underlying hardware issues prior to the version upgrade. but you have to perform a hard reset first and hope its not the battery ?

remove the charger and battery from the pc, and press the power button for 60 secs to drain every residual charges left from the mainboard, after that, reconnect the charger and battery and power on the pc

Nope...... You need to go into bios, change boot sequence and reinstall OS......

Windows crashing won't stop the laptop from turning on, Can only stop it from booting. If you can't get it to turn on at all then visit a repairer for physical troubleshooting.

Your laptop is dead. If you're in lag I can fix it for you.

The technicians I meet said it has power source problem from d motherboard... maybe it is from the source of electricity...A crashed PC is totally dead?? motherboard is really cost oooooo...

any other solution apart from buying new motherboard?

I think the problem occured because the update wasn't completed before the laptop shut down.

I wanted to be sure my charger wasn't the problem so two days ago I went to a vendor to buy charger, and it was confirmed that my charger is not the problem. Was planning to take the laptop to Ikeja by Friday for repair, but surprisingly, the thing started working well yesterday till today.

What I'll advise you to do is plug the laptop to electricity anytime there is light and leave it, it will charge for few seconds then go off, and probably charge again for few seconds, if you feel it has charged a little...power on your laptop and the update will continue running in the background. Do this as often as you can, then you will get your laptop back. That's exactly what I did...

I finally took the system to a technician (friend) on Wednesday for reloading of the os(windows 10)but the problem now is it trip off after about 2_4 mins after powered on.. He tried different pattern by
*removing the battery and plug the charger directly.. Same issue
*adding paste to the processor as a cooling agent(thou fan is working fine).. Same issue
*adding a paper tape to prevent hart to the pan between the board and the base thinking it harts and trip off after touching the board.. Same issue

I could notice he was confused and asked me to come today..

I needed to run here for advice from the tech gurus, so I could give him an idea cuz I couldn't afford to loose this system for a long period of time.. Thanks

2 things is involve in this timing shutdown.

1. Me region of bios needs upgrade.
2. Thermal section(CPU) have issue.

Before this, I don't know which operating system was on it before, downgrade it to Windows 8 and see before going with what i listed above.

Any time I press the power button, the power light, network connection light, the light on the "scroll key" and the volume mute or unmute light all blink for a second together and goes off again. I will have to wait for like another 6 seconds, press the power again and the same lights will come on without the laptop powering.

I have done a hard reset where I removed the battery and AC adapter, held the power button for 60secs, connected the AC adapter and tried powering but getting same result.

What could be wrong, please?

What's the model of elitebook?

Especially those 8460p,8570p, sometimes it is cause by over charging, just take out the battery and leave it for like 1hr for the laptop to discharge.

Again there might be a short circuit on the board so I'll advise you see a laptop technician if the above procedure doesn't work.

I suddenly saw a liquid on one part of my laptop screen when I opened the laptop...and I cleaned it immediately with a dry cloth..
what is the meaning? because I can't power on my laptop currently so I can't confirm if the screen is still in a good condition..

You need to install office package on your laptop........... Get the office package on a disc or USB........
