1. Is there an overhead water tank on the building?
2. Is your room next to the bathroom or toilet?

If answer to above is yes, then find and alternative place for the tank.

Then ensure that the taps in your bathroom are not leaking inside the bathroom walls.

A sensible plumber can do the repairs.

If conditions persist, tiling may be necessary

Why don't you start from whatever the cause is, it could be a leaky roof, from bathroom, or you are living in a waterlogged area. If none of that is the cause then try opening up your windows to let in air, put on your fan or AC to help dry up the place. Cleanup the house and wash all items to get rid of the pollens. I guess its rains offen in your location.

I think the floor has to be recasted with a nylon on the floor before the concrete cast then tile it, in the case if it is the floor

If it's the wall then you have to put tiles on the wall upto where the dampness is

Thanks,

There are two bathrooms in the left and right house next to our bedroom walls.

That is what is causing the dampness, the wall is peeling sef.

I think we will have to tile.

Thank you, but if we tile it will the wetness of the wall not make the tiles fall off and detach?

Yes it rains often but it's the way the house is built that is causing wall dampness, the houses to our left and right are have their bathroom next to our bedroom wall.

oh! That's terrible. It's not safe for you and I don't think you will feel proud letting your visitors seeing such. This is what I will do if I was in this situation, I'll simply get another apartment when the rent expires except its your personal building.

Most likely that the land on which the house you reside in was built, is fadama (water logged). The foundation of the building was poorly done hence water sips into the walls, making it damp and to peel off.

1 and 2 not the causes of the problem.

@nahzyla

Hello nahzyla. Your diary is one of the few diaries I follow on NL and I must confess that you're an extremely vivid writer.

I really enjoy reading your diary.

Please permit me to ask you a personal question. I hope you take it in good faith.

Can you please help me to understand your thought process in this scenario?

A scenario where you're married to a man who does the barest minimum, doesn't take care of you as his wife and provides just barely enough for the child you both have.

Can you help me understand why you go on to have even more children when your husband has clearly shown you that you and the child(ren) you have are not a priority for him?

I mean, you wrote in your diary where you had to start a business just so you can take care of yourself and your child while he lavishes his money on outside women.

Why then do you have more children even when he doesn't take sufficient care of the one you already have?

I will like it if you can help me understand your thought process. Thank you.

Possible causes...

1. That wall is what demarcates your bedroom and bathroom.

2. The land where the house was built is a waterlogged area hence the dampened walls.

Possible solutions...
Call you landlord and tell him about the issue, then inform him that you would like to get a brick layer to put like 6 layer of tiles to mask the dampened walls.

If he agrees...go ahead, he'll deduct the cost from your rent the following year.

Case solved.
