I learn this when I first hold a leadership role. You must do everything doable to secure your respect as a leader. If you tolerate everything, don't ever give room for disrespect from your subordinate. You protect that respect like your life depend on it, and one thing is once they know you don't tolerate bullshits they will never bring it to you. You have to look them boldly with tough looks in the eyes and tell them, It seems your father father is a motherfucker! grin Anytime they want start to dey misyarn. The time wey you spend for higher institution do they have that knowledge you acquired there? "As a leader you have to know your onions"

Your first priority (As a commissioned officer with Subordinates Under You) must be to become worthy of leading them. Lead by example every day and in everything you do, whether it is at physical training, on field exercises, or on the range. Face it, you will have to prove yourself every day as a lieutenant or a 2nd Lieutenant. Put yourself in their shoes and take a hard look at yourself and ask ursef these 2 questions...
(1) Would you follow a person with your standards?
(2) Would you follow a person with your level of tactical and technical expertise? Do not be a hypocrite.

If you expect the soldiers to meet a certain standard, ensure you exceed it. Stay cool under pressure and be a calming presence in the platoon when things get stressful. Remember this when you arrive as a new platoon leader, you are like a transplanted organ. The body (platoon) either accepts or rejects you based on your professionalism and attitude.

Truth. You can't be hiding behind and always pushing your soldiers to the front and you want to command respect. They will just be saying which kain yeye Commander grin.

Truth. You can't be hiding behind and always pushing your soldiers to the front and you want to command respect. They will just be saying which kain yeye Commander grin.
Expect your commander to be hard on you and give you what seems like an impossible number of tasks to accomplish. Your commander will never give you a task you cannot accomplish. You can prove yourself best to your commander by working hard and taking care of the platoon.

You may end up serving under a commander you think is not a good leader or who is only looking out for himself. If you do, keep your mouth shut, work hard, take care of the soldiers, and do your best to make the unit successful anyway. If there is unethical or criminal activity, talk to the battalion executive officer or chaplain.
In almost all cases, your commander will be an outstanding officer you can look up to and learn from. Good commanders counsel you for good and bad performance and set goals for you to achieve.

You will make some mistakes and should expect to be counseled for them either formally or informally. Take this counseling to heart but do not get down on yourself. What your commander is looking for is to see if you make the same mistake twice. Your job is to ensure you do not. The camaraderie you develop with other lieutenants in your unit will stay with you the rest of your life. Work together and share ideas so you all will be successful.

Whatever you do, never try to undermine another lieutenant to make your platoon look better. For one thing, that is both unprofessional and unethical. In addition, that lieutenant's troops will not appreciate it (and troops have funny ways of letting you know this). No one likes a backstabber. Friendly rivalries can be good for all of you as long as you keep it in perspective.

Remember, there is plenty of room at the top.

I like all these hot takes.. US army hot take standard.. Serving in the Nigerian army is very different from all these things you read online! Quadril.. you said your commander can’t give you an impossible task, I laugh in one gun truck and 300 bandits.. all these takes may not apply when you begin service.. because the army will drain your blood and sense of reasoning.. I pray we all get in... make we dey apply these hot takes together..

Sometimes you’ll even have a better way of accomplishing the mission but you’ll be shunned and there’s nothing you’ll be able to do about it... officers message their wives before some kind of operations to tell them that they might not come back.. sometimes your commanding officers won’t even look at you talk less of listening..

Yep prayer is to make to captain/major so that you can begin to have some form of command..

This year's SSC registration turn out was very poor. Why una dey fear combat na?
As per your WhatsApp message,
Northwest has a total of 4008 candidates making it the highest in all the regions.
While Southeast has 946 registrants making it the region with the lowest registration turn out.
I think Kano has the highest number of candidates while Ebonyi no just try.
Meanwhile, hope you have applied for the leave? If not, you may have issues as shortlisting is almost complete.

My source doesn't have access to DSSC data, as SSC and DSSC are processed differently with more care placed on DSSC . Although they are compiled together according to him/her

“We will use African science, African science is real. Insurgency is abnormal and abnormal situation requires abnormal solutions we will tackle it with all seriousness. It’s not about tea and bread issue but we have the solutions at hand to defeat Boko Haram and banditry. “When you have guns, you have other weapons; there are anti-guns and anti-weapons including bombs and that is what we will deploy to defeat Boko Haram without firing guns.
