The subsidy removal is not the problem.

The timing is the problem and also will the money saved up from the government not paying the subsidy be put to good use?

Re: Domestic Refinery Owners Support Oil Subsidy Removal – National Chairman by banio: 12:51pm On Oct 04, 2020
The government doesn't care about her citizens. Anything that would put money in their pockets is welcomed. Imagine oil Multinationals that government have over 50% stake, presenting a template of sacking workers without benefits and government okayed it.

Chevron wants to sack her workers, without benefits, they ran to Federal Government and the government okayed the sacking. The government could not ask of the modalities and the benefits. All the government saw was money and okayed the sack.

Removing oil subsidy in a volatile economy is not a good idea. Government should take charge of her economy before removing subsidy. The standard of living is so bad that everyone will be adversely affected if subsidy is totally removed.

You better go join them. So that when government and world bank grants come for the non-existing refineries, You would smile to the bank.

See the problem. Refinery owners are already in 'association' aka cartel. Locked and stocked to exploit Nigerians from where goverment leaves off.

The same thing afflicting the privatisation of the power sector is about to replay with energy. Lack of detailed performance criteria, lack of strong regulatory framework, lack of solid judicial oversight by goverment is tantamount to deriliction of duty.

Just as they allow power companies do whatever they like, goverment is apparently already behind the curve of a more organised but insidious private sector.

Once the citizens can get goverment off their backs they as a matter of urgency should turn their focus and ire on these so called 'associations' that in most cases are not forces for good when it comes to the creation of free market interplay.

Which one is domestic refinery owners again, is there any domestic refinery apart from the four government owned dead refineries,

They will just wake up one day and start talking nonsense.

I can't just comprehend how we get to this mess of a government that we have now.

Wasn't there a report recently that the locally refined oil was cleaner than the rubbish that they've been importing?

Well they'll need to encourage investors otherwise, nobody will invest. We want service, they need the profit. There has to be a balance. Good stunt by the government. Other investors who see this would want to follow suit In investing here cos it would be deemed PROFITABLE. At the end, nigerians will smile the most
