cmecproblem:
Many people have this problem, if only cemeteries worked perfectly. People with huge financial needs cannot sell land cos their loved ones were buried there. Sad.
God so nothing is this country even the cemetery

A dead man is dead. Most of the expensive and sentimental things we do to give their life meaning is pointless. It's not in your power to give one's life meaning. It's in their life's.

I don't even subscribe to the idea of burying people (especially with those vital organs) worse still purposely suffer for a piece of land. We need to re-evaluate these traditions.

Op your father is no longer there...have you bothered to ask where your grandmother or grandfather is buried...

The man has gone to meet his maker and the flesh returned to where it was made from.

If you guys are selling, sell the whole damn thing or you keep the land since your concern is about preserving someone that is no longer there..I dont see the rationale behind keeping only half a plot..if full plot is not enough to certify the needs is it half plot that will.

My 2 cent

Re: Would You Sell The Land Where Your Parents Were Buried? by Corona22: 12:01pm On Oct 05, 2020
With all due respect sir I believe your siblings are quite desperate for quick money , the girl in particular. The property should not be sold , not because of your father’s grave , but because it’s an investment and legacy bequeathed unto you kids. Shouldn’t be sold for quick bucks.

Today Bros Anything for me, tommorow Bros am broke etc. I decided to come up with an Idea to sample their opinion on what to do about our Dads One plot which has four rooms. Each person collects the room rent. As The house Maintenance is only done by me, others just come collect money and leave.

I organised a meeting asking what should be done about the House. One Male Suggested shop should be builts and be Rented out, the other male suggested a Developer should be called upon. The girl suggested that the whole land should be sold, same land her father is Buried.

After further delibrations the other two males agreed half plot should be Sold then part of the money realised be used to develop the remaining half plot on which there father is Buried while the remaining money is shared equally among the four Children.

The Girl Finnaly stands on her Decision that the whole plot of land be sold and money should be shared and her father's grave be removed.
What sort of response should one give to such a Child?

If only People could see what happens from the other side when they are gone, I know they would have lived their lives very differently from the way they did while Alive on earth.
That Job, House, Business etc. is not that important. Many will even not get Married not to talk of having Children. I see the wisdom in Jesus' Teachings and Philosophy and I admire and respect it a lot, even tho I'm not religious ATM.
How does this contribute to the thread? angry grin

your siblings would always come to you for money.

learn to say NO when you cannot afford giving them money

Here comes our problem. Customs, Religion, sentiments, backward mentality, name calling, name tagging.
Imagine if the land is worth 5mil and the two brothers decided to use the money to expand there businesses and make it a family business? they were able to get a cheaper land elsewhere and make it a family land, they could shoulder there responsibilities and dont need to demand or depend on anybody.
Poor people get problem I swear. Na only them dey take mumu thing too personal
Poverty of the mind superceeds that of material things.
So until when they sold what the Father laboured for before they can break even abi?
People like you are ready to sell your father's grave because of capitalist orientation, some things are of intrinsic value, they can't be sold for any amount.
Yes,customs, tradition and what have you were the things that made us,it even stands us out from the whole lot.
Did I forget to tell you that your capitalist orientation is also some people's culture?
Re: Would You Sell The Land Where Your Parents Were Buried? by forghe(m): 12:13pm On Oct 05, 2020
never you attempt selling or even worse, exhuming the body of your father. She is speaking out of ignorance and selfishness. the best thing to do is, if there is money build shops and more rooms to rent. if there is none you can just let it be till you the money to develop.

Land is not something you sell out of pressure. not even quarter plot

. Thanks so much for your input .The thing is that Half out of the one plot is intended to be sold while the remaining half where Late father is Buried will be Left .It's two wives the Deceased had ,First wife had 3 boys,Second wife had one Girl .Both wives left the deceased before His Death .The 3 Boys agreed half should be Sold , Remaining Half with there father's Grave be left while the only Girl from the second wife insisted that The whole Plot should be sold which includes the late man's Grave .The boys are mad and contemplating if truly the Girl is true Daughter of there father ,They insisted only a Bastard Child would Offer for sale the Grave of His Dad.They are even Suggesting a DNA Should be Carried out ,but the Possibility of that I don't know since there Father is already in the Grave about 15 years ago .
From your explanation, the girl is just pained for been the only child from the second wife coupled with the fact that she is a lady. Her mom may have been the one who gave her that funny and evil idea. No matter how much you people realize from selling the whole land, it will still finish before Feb next year. Trouble no dey finish. Since there is no money at hand, I go with the popular opinion of many here which is selling half plot and using the money to develop the remaining plot where their father was buried. I see the girl's idea as foolishness

It seems the op doesn't like his half sister and just want a justification for the hate.

It was a meeting and everyone was supposed to contribute whatever ideas they want.
All of you can't bring out same idea, she's given hers as you guys has given yours... Why do you have to bring it to a public domain? A family meeting for that matter, what even your closest of neighbour isn't supposed to know you make it public seeking strangers validation.

Na overgrown baby adults full this generation.

The whole write up as revealed all the hates you guys have towards your father 2nd wife and her child... This write up has nothing to do with property but a long time suppressed hatreds.
Bro sometimes ehn...u need to be calming down. If he had wanted to display his hatred like you said or whatever you call it. The sister wouldn't have been involved in the meeting despite the fact she's the last child and not from the same mother. Any suppressed hatted would have erupted now the father was dead.

Again, read up carefully he never indicated them from different mothers in the first post. Calm down and read. It was when someone asked, he took time to explain.
The question there is, what kind of response should be given to such a child? Let her know that you can't sell the land that is what he is driving at.

Stop inciting hate, that's bad.

Sometimes you seek advice outside the caucus of your domain. Its better to search for such on the faceless forum with some minced words. Nobody is an island of Knowledge. You can't prover one, then dont talk.
