This is a right step in the right direction. If ASUU have nothing to hide, let them embrace IPPIS. This will even open more employment opportunities for unemployed youths and graduates

I still cannot understand how an employee should be mandating his employer on the method through which his salary should be paid.

I think the best thing for an employee is to look elsewhere if he is no longer ready to play by the rules of his employer than dictating to his employer how he must be treated.

Why??! I can't say... But, they all should! IPPIS isn't even Buhari's brainchild. GEJ even endorsed it as part of a national drive to check institutionalized corruption and sharp practices in our civil service.

State governors should adopt such stringent steps too... The issue of ghost workers is terrible.

I'm with President Buhari on this one. Why is ASUU against IPPIS? They work for the government and the government decided that it would pay them through IPPIS which the government believes eliminates fraud in the system. ASUU is just trying to protect the practice in which its members work in various universities collecting multiple salaries.
Already the government's insistence on IPPIS has led to creation of many vacancies which were hitherto being held by lecturers working in several universities simultaneously.
The government reserves the right to choose the method of paying them.

Agencies that generate their own money are not under IPPIS because they(agencies) determine their workers salaries and every other allowances. Infact they remit money to FG like FIRS,NNPC,CBN and others.
Those under IPPIS are MDAs that depend on FG for funding of any kind which sadly universites fall under.

Some lecturers are working in 2 to 3 universities as “ visiting professors” and also collecting salaries from those universities. With IPPIS, those activities will stop and other people can be employed and collect salaries
