I often wonder if Balogun can play in midfield. I mean his ball playing and distribution will be good in midfield. He is one of the few defenders we have that can play in midfield. Rohr should have used him there instead of Semi Ajayi. His game has some elements of good midfield play.
Any coach will like a player like Balogun and use him in different ways.
Not mobile enough to play in Midfield.

This is National Team football not League football. Take a good look around and give me the names of country that have a definite football ideology .
The National Team is a boiling pot of different club ideology eg: Spain has Pique (tiki taka ),Diego(alethico utra defense),Ramos (different tactical setup). For a coach to work with all these players with different style from different leagues(Serie A is more defensive minded than EPL, while Turkey is a much more tactical league than Serbia) is hard.
Is Rohr the best possible coach for Super Eagles -NO
Is their a BETTER alternative to Rohr at the moment -NO

NB:Above all remember that we always have an over bloated view of our players .A lot of people here when given the squad that Rohr has will perform nada. Coaching is different from punditry. If Rohr had started Dessers and we lost ,a lot of people who have screamed sentiment(saying onuachu na in form this and that). So it is better for us to join and support the team cuz even if Rohr is getting it wrong does it mean that his assistants are also bad. Even if Rohr is sacked and a new coach employed , he will still work with those assistants. Finito
Thank you. Some people think national teams are like clubs that can buy whatever players they desire to fit into their pattern.

It doesn't matter the kind of players you have in your team..whether it is club or national team..
Every coach has a definite playing pattern..
Guardiola and Klopp didn't have their choice players in their first season in the EPL but it didn't stop them from implementing their style into the players at their disposal..

It's been 4 years already...Rohr has no clear direction with team!
After 2 major tournaments,we should be looking at improvements..

Ajayi was the one playing DM,Agu came in for Onyeka at CM in the second half..

All this attempt to spite Ndidi in a game u didn't fully watch is comedic....

When I said there'd always be space for a fit and in form Balogun as he brings balance to the team - someone here claimed i only said so because I wanted to see my "favorite oyinbo wall" smh.
Now look how much dick riding Balogun is getting today.
Anyways I need to watch the replay of the game as I dozed off around half time.
The obvious thing I noticed was that midfield. A pivot of Onyeka - Ajayi was just sickening even for a conservative coach like Rohr. I hope all you Etebo critics see how important it is to have someone who can dribble out of the press.
I'm not too worried about the result as it was a friendly with a makeshift side against a top top Algerian team.
Let's see what Rohr does on Tuesday.

Spare ajayi as he is not a midfielder please

He belong to the cb and rohr want to play your favorite oyinbo wall grin

a lot changes in the national team, don't be comparing club with national team, OK what is Belgium's pattern? What is France pattern? What is Portugal's pattern? You pattern your game according to the players you have in form, and Nigerian players have a thing with inconsistency yet we blame the coach for every thing.

In the national team, the pattern changes when the coach changes .

Siasia was well known for playing direct attacking football.. Amuneke too.. even Manu Garba...

Yes , it has been 4 years with a constantly evolving squad, from ezenwa to uzoho to oshimen to the newest players in Camp. The stability is being built at a slow rate so also is the blending. If Stability is achieved and the team can get better . One characteristics of top winning National team is familiarity and stability of players. Check the German world cup winning team to Brazilian NT during Pele's time , you will notice that there were relatively little changes to the team sheet. So Rohr has a direction ,maybe not the direction we want but yet a clear direction - building the next generation of players.

That your Guardiola comment shock me, Klopp own self is somehow but Guardiola is known for buying players who fit his ideology. Even Klopp has only one player starting from the squad he inherited which says a lot.Biko don't bring club football here. It can't just agend .

Imagine give Guardiola ,one Balogun from Scottish league, Etebo from Getafe, Oniachu from Genk,Ekong from championship, Onazi from Turkish league, Ebuehi from whatevertheycallit club and he will only work with them on an average of less than 3 months every year. You simply want him to commit breathtaking career suicide. He will walk away within 2 seconds.

Let stop comparing our team to what we watch in EPL or Laliga biko.

Not a good reason to start Ajayi in midfield with Tijani and Agu sitting on the bench. The way I see Rohr , he will never achieve anything with these bunch of talented players. He is tactically poor!

because we all know when it comes to the super eagles nacho is a better striker than the guy who wore the 9 Jersey yesterday

It is just so unfortunate that we don't rate Aina here...Aina is fine and decent player and I am so sure he won't have done badly yesterday had it been he played

We rate aina here but most don’t want to admit it because kome always have interest in aina

Ebuehi is good but he isn’t a better player than aina ,even zaidu Sanusi isn’t better than aina

But we Dey observe

not the most eye pleasing match to watch. Fullbacks (Ebuehi and Sanusi) were defensively sound but both have to seriously improve on their crossing especially tyronne. Balogun very solid Ekong started shaky but improved as the game wore on. really happy with the Okoye very calm did the basics right still struggled a bit with crosses but I think he will get better.

Midfield was a real carpentry workshop almost all of them could barely string 1-2 passes. Iwobi was the best of the lot. onyeka, Agu and Tijani are not taking Ndidi's shirt (when fit) anytime soon.

attack was really blunt no understanding, no coordination, the lot! wingers both the starters and subs were very poor. Onuachu didn't get any decent service but he himself didn't cover himself with glory with his poor hold up play and slow almost static movement.

positives whole defensive unit were generally solid but fullbacks have to improve their crossing as a necessity.

Negatives coach rohr was poor last. still has that annoying habit of being clueless if plan A doesn't work out. some of his subs (ebuehi=Akpoguma?) were puzzling. Midfield was undecided Ejaria can't come any sooner.

for the next game hope to see Aina, Akpoguma, Ejuke, Dessers and one of the other goalkeepers start from the beginning

Overall it's just a friendly so let's be calming down grin

Icon79:
Here’s the full game, you can watch it again, this time without tension. We weren’t too bad. The only problem with our game: they overran our midfield, which is understandable as we play with a makeshift midfield pairing.
