Good evening my brothers and sisters here, I have been following this thread for some months now and I have learnt a lot. I want to seek advice from experienced drivers and owners here about my plan of joining this business, I currently base in Ibadan, I'm teaching in a private secondary School here in Ibadan with a poor take home of 33k in an effort to increase my income I got a chance of securing a loan of almost 1m. I'm now planning of getting a car for e-hailing business because I need to do business that can make me refund the money within 10 months but am afraid of going into this business, I'm planning of starting here in Ibadan but I can still relocate to either lag or abj. Please I want a sincere advice about this plan. Can I get a car around 1m that will not give me problems and will be able to pay back the money within the stipulated time provided that I drive by myself.

Don't buy a Nigerian /used vehicle. I repeat DONT buy a second hand vehicle with a loan

Bolt is not too profitable in Ibadan.

Cos there is no way you can save 1 million in 10 mths,.

Sit down n think, there r oda things you can do with dt loan. You want to sink all that money on a car. Broda, you sef reason am na.

Since you've been following this thread, it means you are driving with us in spirit hence you know the answer to most of your concerns.

I will give you a Yes..

You can get 1mili that will be very good (not excellent) for the job.
You can payback after 10 months, else you sell the car and balance the payment.

Whatever you do... Just remember *Avoid Womego girls*

Pope19 and Felicity will join this conversation.
Thank you boss I'm really grateful for your input

I can't , cos im not you. Different personalities n attributes. Some pple work well in d field, while some get deir best performance behind a desk.,

My opinion, 10 mths as a tenor is too short. That's lyk 25k/week. Try and negotiate the terms.

Sit down, don't go anywhere, use a whole weekend, and think. You will get an answer.

if you still hvnt got an answer, Don't go n buy a second hand car with a Loan.

This is serious, I will advise you guys report this case to the police ASAP instead of calling the number so that you won't give them heads up that the guy left a trace. I pray and hope he's still alive and living

What are the terms and conditions attached to the loan? Where are you getting it from? Interest rate?

If you must get a Nigeria used car, don't spend the whole 1m on getting a car. 700-800k is fine, so you can have extra to facilitate your onboarding and also fall back to in case of downtime.

You can't make enough money to offset the loan driving in Ibadan, you need to relocate.

Lagos/Abuja; do you have accommodation?

Lagos: Driving in Lagos will test you, it goes beyond having a valid drivers license and car. (If you have been following the thread as you claim, you should understand my message)

Abuja: You will not make money like your Lagos counterparts but whatever you make will come with peace of mind. You won't spend much on car maintenance because they have good roads, less traffic and no harassment from officials.

In life, one must be willing to take (calculated) risk. Try to negotiate the loan duration.
Whatever your decision is, I wish you Godspeed and guidance.

Brotherly, please if the money has not been transferred to you, tell them to hold on.
You don't take loan for a business you have not started. Loans are meant for established businesses. With that, u have a template of your monthly revenue + or - ..... u can then tell if u can pay back with interest.
Since u have a teaching job that brings something, why not be patient to learn new skills u are comfortable with. Ibadan is an emerging economy and trust me there are several silent millionaires there contrary to popular opinion about the city. They need some services that make them run to Lagos. Those skills will attract u to them. I hope I made sense?

My comment has to do with your illustration which translates to government passing the same judgement over and over again, yes they've been banning them but this time they dissolved them. That's what I tried to point out.
P.S. I'm not against the protests in anyway, I'm just trying to understand the reason behind EndSARS protests after SARS has been dissolved
Do not mind them. You protested for sars to be dissolved, now that it's dissolved you are still protesting, what do you really want? I was in support of #Endsars but I see no reason protesting when it's actually ended.

Thanks brother, I'm getting the loan from a relative with no interest. I just need to pay back on time in other not to misuse the opportunity given to me. I'm open for relocation, I have friends I can stay with for a short period of time both in lag and abj. The teaching job is tiring and the pay is poor.

Yesterday was hell. I barely escaped traffic from Lekki to Ikate. 7 kilomtres trip was showing 2 hours to destination. Mad oo.

I was at Ogba around 9 pm. I got a request on Uber going to Sango from Obawole. I called rider to know if the trip is that night or next year. Rider changed it for me on the phone and threatened to report me to Uber.

This morning, Uber deactivated my account for "Too Much" cancellations. I mailed Uber immediately and told them that should they ever reactivate my account again and send me bad and stupid trips, I will cancel all of them again twice on Sunday. Uber ran mad.

They upgraded my status from Civilian Miscreant on Probation to Unrepentant Terrorist on permanent ban. They have changed my profile to permanent deactivation. grin grin grin

Bolt Ti Takeover.... Stupid Uber.

If your mind is already made up on doing ehailing you don't have to relocate. I have someone in ibadan that is doing quite alright and he started last month. I can give you his number maybe he can hint you on how much he nets in a week then from there you can decide on the taking the loan or not. In my opinion, working in Ibadan is better than Lagos because drivers work with ease there, no lastma and local govt touts wahala, one way palava, traffic and all the stress we face here in lag, plus you already know the terrain

Thanks bro, loan can not be used to start a business, as for the teaching job I'm planning all possible means exiting the job because of poor pay and it takes a lot of time from me. Is difficult to combine another business with it.
Hmmmm... Sometimes/Most time I find it very difficult to give advice to issues that relate to career because I do nit have a comprehensive history on what/where to base my advice.

I'll try not to advise you out of your mind. Because, "Where the heart of a man is nothing can take his eyes away from it"

Anyways, it's obvious you're tired with your present job already and want to try other means. But have you thought about this new line interest of yours? It's not a professional job oooh. It doesn't add any professional knowledge or skills to your CV, et el. The truth is, you're not tired of thw teaching job but of the environment and low pay.

Since you have sb you can stay with for a while in Lagos, you can consider this.

Hold on to your present job in IB while you make a short visit to Lagos/Abuja and then apply for same job position since you already have experience, continue with your present job till a good offer with better pay comes by then you relocate.

For you not to lose the opportunity of the loan from the relative, take the risk, while on your short visit to Abuja/Lagos look for a 2003 Honda Civic Nigeria use preferably in Abuja. Hausas love Honda a lot and they maintain cars like their wives so you'll get a good deal in FCT for N500k-N650k.

When you've gotten a car and done with your registration on both Bolt and uber then you can relocate fully to either state of your choice and kick start.

When a better offers comes by you can then merge it with the driving after school at 2/3pm daily then week ends. You need that job to stay aflaute because there weeks a car will guve you problem and you wont be having any income. You salary can come in to your rescue.

Don't just relocate once to join your friend(s) anywhere, and plan not to stay too long with anyone in their own apartment. Good friendship can be destroy when they both come together to live under same roof. So be careful

In all "do not despise a little beginning".
... No matter how little the teaching job is giving you don't drop it for a driving job. GEJ was once a teacher, only to mention of few of them.

Good luck in making your decision.
