The management of MBH Power Limited has suspended one of its staff, Samuel Adekojo, for allegedly participating in the ongoing protest against police brutality in the country.

Adekojo is an I.T Assistant in the company.

MBH Power is an energy solutions company and a member of the Tolaram Group of companies.

A letter of suspension posted by Adekojo staff on Twitter and obtained by IDOMA VOICE, claimed his involvement in the protest negates Management decision to keep them away from public.

The letter signed by the HR reads below.

LETTER OF SUSPENSION

I wish to officially inform you that Management has placed you on suspension from the Company from today Tuesday 13. October, 2020till further notice.

This is due to your participation in the ongoing #ENDSARSBRUTALITY# that has been going on now for some days all over the Country.

You will recall that Management has been doing its best to keep all employees safe since the beginning of COVID-19 Pandemic by asking us to work from home and when it is compulsory to come to work, official vehicle is being provided to avoid mingling with general public.

Your involvement in the protest negate Management decision to keep us away from public and for that reason you have to be on suspension till further notice to avoid spreading the disease among staff.

Yours faithfully, HR.

Arrrrrrrh

This clearly shows we are being rule by tyrant leaders. They are literally telling us freedom of speech is limited to certain people not the citizens entirely.

So they are using fake corona to hang singlet. Shame!!

Modify,

I am fully aware of the contents I wrote, am not talking about the post to be specific, am saying in general, this how we are being rule.

My reasons are, in Nigeria if a person is in an organization as a worker, he don't have right to do protest, move around because of the organization regulations, that's limitations on his right. Assuming he's on his own who will tell him talk if he does anything.

Next time don't tell me everyone is equal before the human rights.

He was suspended because of the fear of spreading coronavirus at his office, not because he went for the necessary protest .

But the moderator that moved/pushed this to the Frontpage decided to be mischievous by the title of the thread.
And this shouldn't be, knowing how wide spread Nairaland goes all over the world.

"Company suspend staff that went to protest because of fear of coronavirus infection at the office". .... would have been more apt as the title of the thread.

Who wants to die by coronavirus infection now that it is going down all over the world?
They even provided free official vehicle to take him to and from from work, just to keep him and his colleagues safe.

I won't be surprised if the mod deletes this post anyways.
I have made my point.

Kobicove:
News sensationalism sells faster! undecided
You have a good point here!
FactualSpeech:
you are the best!
Thank you. But God is the best bro.

Fgwa:
Thank you.
At least we have people that still have this country at heart by virtue of being honest.
I was surprised the contents were very different from the topic. My question, does it means the moderator never read before moving it forward or he/she wanted to be mischievous?
You share my view too?
Thank you.

His employer only used #ENDSARS and not Covid-19 as usual as an excused to lay him off!

Very soon Buhari won't have to blame his woeful economic policies that has failed to actualized on Covid but on the #ENDSARS protests.

The Moderator that pushed this to the Frontpage knows that there are millions of you in Nigeria that just jump to comment on every thread by reading the headlines only without reading the content of the news.
So, I am not surprised the way you rushed to comment and jumped into conclusion.

I stand with a peaceful protest against #SarsBrutality.
I stand against spread of lies on Nairaland.
A Nigeria of our dream must be achieved the right and only way. Enough is Enough. Our destiny is in our hands. #EndSarsBrutality
I was at Ita-Opo, Epe Lagos live yesterday fighting for #EndPoliceBrutality, Killings and Roberry.

cheesy
The reason for the suspension nor follow at all...
He works from home doesn't mean his whole life is tied to work.
That the company provided a car for transportation to prevent mingling with the public doesn't negate that your employee has other places to go which are not work related.

BTW, how many protesters don get the COVID-19? Even for US where COVID-19 na hotcake, protest jabrata like say tomorrow nor dey.

So, make the company find another thing talk.

Great

Different kinds of people protesting.

1. PDP members and supporters.

2. Relatives of those President Buhari probe and eventually jailed.

3. Those who are paid by opposition party.

4. Those who see it as an opportunity to wake their dead music career.

5. Those who are being pressurized by others to join.

6. Yahoo boys and girls.

7. Cultists.

8. Those who see it as an opportunity to see or meet their favorite celebrities physically.

9. Those who chase clout.

10. Those who see it as an opportunity to steal people's phone.

11. Those who go there to toast ladies.

The management does have a point but they should've warned him or queried him rather than outright sacking him

What we are fighting for is above SARS and the police. So expect things like these. The good thing is that the World is watching right now let’s take advantage of it.

I'm sure most of those that commented above didn't read the letter.

Pray they don't fire you for bringing it to the public with a misleading heading.

Oh Lord, send Angels to keep your children today.
They have sent thugs today in buses to attack us
We rally not for hate, but to deliver our brothers and sisters.
Therefore let all the souls of compatriots departed, rest not, but fight today.
Arise oh departed. Don't sleep.
Fight SanwoOlu's govt and his backers.
Fight Buhari's govt and his backers.
Let your blood come alive.
Amen.

If you read that termination of appointment letter without the lens of myopism, you'd see that the company's action was legitimate, considering the fact that they've sacrificed a lot to keep their staff hale by providing those logistics and by telling them to work from home.

The guy who should supposedly be at work, chose to join the protest. He was unwise.

I pray he gets another soon, but this time, wiser.
