Will having a traditional wedding disqualify is from getting the K1 Visa? My parents are insisting on a traditional wedding since they won’t be available for the white wedding when we eventually go to the US. So can we have a small traditional ceremony to make up for that. What will be the result of that? Does the embassy regard traditional wedding as being married?

His appointment is on the 12th of next month, so will he have to remain in Atlanta Georgia until his visa is out?

Okay. I believe it's advisable to show them all the information in regards to any kids you have, including the child's birth certificate.

Also, you can take along your Bachelor's degree certificate. Make sure you also take along photocopies of all your original documents.

They will only view the originals and then you can give them the photocopies, if they wish to collect them.


Thanks man yes I will take my son birth certificate with me. But I was referring to bachelor certificate of single or certificate of no marriage. Do I have to present this in my interview? Although its not a requirement but you never can tell. What do you think

I hope everyone is fine and safe, especially our members who are in Naija? A quick update on my case, I got a mail from USCIS yesterday for my interview. However, the date they gave me didn't really favor me as my wife is away on active duty and will not be back before the interview date. I went to the local office today to explain the situation and also showed them a written letter from her command stating that she will be away between the month of October to November. After taking a look at it, the case officer I met placed a call, then came back and told me to still come for the interview with all the necessary documents and supporting evidence. If they still feel the need to contact her, they will. So I hope everything works out, wish me luck. Cheers!!!!

Regarding the certain categories visa ban for Nigerians or generally. Which would you guys advice.

Finace visa(coming to US to marry your fiance(e) OR
spousal visa(married already, coming to join my spouse) in US.

From what I have been reading on the tread, I think fiance visa stands a chance in this ban period because it is not even considered as an immigrant visa. Whereas spousal visa is considered as an immigrant visa which is affected by the ban.

Recently, F1 students have been able to book appointments and have their visa interviews already. Also dates are now available for B1/B2 in Lagos, I guess for January.. so I believe appointments for k1 visa should be
