Ndi aboki sef. Must he always violate the act that established him? Must buhari's appointees always work in contrary to the law that established this country?

You want the court to approve the Boko boys you handpicked from your region, so that the rots in the police will continue, even decades after you're gone?

I'm watching the Court Now.

Agreed there is corruption in the force, and in the recuritment ...but a big part of the problem too is that the number of applicants for government jobs far exceeds the number of available places.

IGP have no constitutional right to carry out recruitment for Nigerian Police.

Only The Nigerian Police Service Commission should do that and not the IGP.

The Judge should just throw the case file out of the window and tell him to address the youths' demands to end SARS

With a situation where NNPC had 45000 applicants for 6000 jobs to give a recent exaample, and I can bet that most of the applicants would haave gotten in on merit....

In a way, the problem goes beyond getting rid of the corruption in such recrutment polices...it also involves fixing the economy, fixing social welfare, ending subsides, etc etc...which means a lot of hard choices.

What is wrong with the IGP? The law clearly states recruitment into the police is the sole right of the police service commission to carry out, so why is he contesting it? What is this country even turning to self?
God forbid!

The current IGP is trying so hard to fight illegality. The powers to appoint, promote & discipline police officers are conferred in the Police Service Commission. There is Civil Service Commission, Judicial Service Commission, The National Assembly Service Commission to mention a few. He is very much aware of the role the Commission had played in the past. This had been consistently followed by all the past IGPs.
We have not heard of any rancour or disagreement in the discharge of their individual role. Why now? Does the recruitment follow due process? Was each state given a fair quota as recommended by the Nigerian Constitution to reflect Federal Character principle? Was any part of the country fully exhaust its quota or totally excluded from filling its quota? So many questions are begging for answers.

The truth is the IGP had definitely go against the rules of engagement. He probably had unilaterally filled the 10,000 recruits without the knowledge of PSC & want the appointment rubber stamped by PSC.

He had obviously usurped the powers of the PSC & that is evident in the refusal of the PSC to approve what had been its traditional role being taken over by IGP. All state of the Federation is entitled a space of appointment in the Nigeria Police Force.
The PSC is to regulate the personnel administration into the Force & not just one man claiming the boss. I wish the Supreme Court should uphold the ruling of the Appeal Court & declare the recruitment unconstitutional.

They want to defend it so that they won't pay back all the kickbacks they received for giving those jobs

The supreme court should hasten with this case. Above all Nigeria should have layers of policing. Over centralisation of all government services is recipe for abuse of laws.
