The resistance Rt of a substance at temperature t°c which is measured by a Mercury thermometer is
Rt=Ro/1+∆t^2
where Ro is the resistance of the substance at 0°c and ∆=5.0×10^-5, calculate the resistance of the substance at 100°c and 80°c,if the Resistance of the substance is used as a thermometric property for a resistance thermometer, what will the resistance thermometer read when a Mercury thermometer reads 100°c and 80°c ? comment on your answer.

please l really need someone to help me solve the calculation,l have exhausted every knowledge l have and they gave this assignment to my sister studying in polytechnic.

First you are to calculate what Ro is by setting Rt to Zero so as to know the resistance at t = 0 degress celsius that is if it is not a contant for every material. Once you have determined the value of Ro; do your calculation for Rt when t=80 and t = 100.

Try it out... If it still proves difficult, let me know

It is better to know the process to take than for me to provide just the answer. Exam still come and he/she will have to provide the workings.

remaining part NOTE s,i unit is ohm and not degre celcius as written in the solution i made a mistake.......for the comment aspect u input those values in the formular provided to get temperature reading said "as resistance increases,temperature............. And as resistance decreases,temperature........."

As a science student, it's been ages I touched physics or math — I only know how to calculate money now. I'm more into practical now, not theories. Sorry I couldn't help.

we can't do without Google grin

What we don't understand is that these people are setting past questions for us. Any assignments given to me my junior ones, I don't have any problem if I am with a phone.

If I can't find the right answer, I will surely find examples.
