The Senate on Tuesday advised President Muhammadu Buhari to make a national broadcast in the wake of the youth protest associated with the atrocities perpetrated by operatives of the disbanded dreaded Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

This was sequel to the adoption of a motion entitled “#EndSARS: Need for comprehensive and holistic reform”, moved by former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Biodun Olujimi.

The upper legislative chamber submitted that the presidential broadcast will douse the tension generated by the youth protests across the country.

The Senate also asked the President to institute a judicial panel of inquiry to investigate the past activities of the SARS operatives with a view to bringing the guilty ones to face the full wrath of law.

I don't know why we have to raise a cry for him to speak on sensitive issues, besides every time he eventually succumb and speak, it never made any difference.

You won’t go and pay for dstv & watch champions league it is speech from Buhari you are waiting for? Where were you on October 1st?

If the President is to address the youths, it must be a Town Hall meeting where as many people as possible will bear their minds after the President has given a speech. He would then go ahead to calm nerves by responding to the concerns raised and commit (with timelines) to agreements reached.

That is what a leader of a very troubled people should do.

A Femi Adesina prepared speech won't have any effect on the situation on ground.

If he cannot be President, let him resign. That is the honorable thing to do. Why occupy a sit without fulfilling its most fundamental responsibilities? That's pure bullying.

Again, the president missed another golden opportunity.

It's unlikely that he will eventually heed the Senate's directive so as to be seen as being ordered around.

The question is if he actually knows what's happening.

If Buhari talks from now till tomorrow people that hate will still go on hating him n people that love him will still love him.
