ItsReal:

Let me mess with you small.

"Hoodlums have hijacked the protest from us."
You said protest is the right of every Nigerian.
Hoodlums are Nigerians too.
They are protesting the way they know how.
Who are "us" you're referring to?
Did you define yourselves or those eligible to join the protest?
Was it not you calling everybody to join the struggle?
Sowore even called the police to join them in the revolution.
Hoodlums, who are also Nigerians with grievances now joined, and you said they hijacked it. What is hijack?
Did they stop you from doing your own protest?
Did they redefine what you want or change the 5 abi 17 points agenda?
Part of your own agenda is to release your own fellow protesters arrested.
Part of their own agenda is to release their friends that were in prison since (they also thought they were wrongly imprisoned, or no be only them be thieves).
You had no leader, fixed group or coordination, and you called everybody to join you. Hoodlums now joined you, and you said they hijacked it from you.

Please stop the joke.

Let's even assume they've seized control of your own protest, you cannot take back control from ordinary hoodlums, and you want to take control of Nigeria from Buhari and the army? Are you dreaming?

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has written an eight paragraph letter to President Muhammadu Buhari asking him to address Nigerians on the state of the nation.

Statement by H_E Olusegun Obasanjo on the violence and chaos across Nigeria

STATEMENT ON VIOLENCE AGAINST PROTESTERS IN NIGERIA: AN APPEAL FOR CALM

It is With a heavy heart and a deep sense of concern about the ongoing violence, chaos and unrest In many parts of Nigeria that I make this appeal to the government and people of our dear country, Nigeria to eschew violence and embrace peace and dialogue in finding solutions to the challenges we face as a country.

I particularly appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari, in his capacities as President of Nigeria, Commander ln-Chicf of the Armed Forces, and as a parent of youth like the ones who have in the last week come out in peaceful protest against police brutality and for improvement in their lives and their living conditions to restrain the military and other security agencies from using brute force as a way of ending the crisis.

The shooting and murder of unarmed protesters no matter the level of provocation, has never been effective in supressing public anger and frustration. Instead, such actions only reinforce the anger and frustrauon of the populace and close the window of dialogue and peaceful resolution.

It is clear that Mr President and his lieutenants did not exhaust the opportunities for dialogue with the protesters before resorting to use of force. It is worse that there is denial of wrongdoing in spite of overwhelming visual evidence. Great harm has been done but it can be stopped before it completely spirals out of control.

We are at a critical moment in this crisis and Mr. President must act now before it is too late. This time demands leadership and mature leadership at such.

Most of the demands of the protesting youth. which Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State swiftly took to the President, are not unreasonable and can be met without anyone's polincal interest or ambition being threatened. It is imperative that leaders at all levels, starting with Mr. President, must demonstrate weakness, humanity and sincerity in meeting the legitimate demands of the protesters and ensuring that justice is served where it must be served. These are the most potent ways of ending this crim's now.

The youth too must give peace a chance while making their legitimate demands. They must be mindful of miscreants who will infiltrate their ranks and give the protests a bad name only so that trigger-happy forces will lnll them. The destrucnon and loonng of public and private properties Will only hurt all of us and set us back. The targeting of individuals and groups for attacks and reprisal attacks will only further widen our divisions, escalate the crisis and threaten our fragile unity.

This is yet another moment when our nation is on the edge of a cliff. Our individual and collective actions now and in the next few days will determine where we will go as a Nation. May God help us in taking the right steps in the right direction.

Actually he would have long since sent out the troops.

This is the same obasanjo who in the late 1970s sent troops to Nigerian universities. Google the ali must go riots.

And lets not forget the raid on Fela's kalakuta republic by "unknown soldiers " which led to the death of the frontline nationalist funmilayo ransome-kuti.

And that is before odi and zaki biam

Obasanjo is no nice guy at all

The people of odi did not kill the policemen. (They were policemen by the way. 12 of them).

They were.killed by a group of thugs led by the son of ironically a retired cop.

The killers fled to a neoghbouring state. They were caught. (Their fate is another story).

That does not justify what happened to the village of odi. It was murder. Like the lekki massacre

Baba has said it all, dialogue is key. Its the panacea in a situation like this. Strong head doesn't rule a nation.

How Nigerians forget things in a hurty. We shouldn't expect anything strange from someone who once said their monkey and baboon would be soaked in blood...no responsible leader utters such a word. Tinubu is only reaping the the reward of the hyenas he suddenly bathed and wore human clothe all in the name of rebranding a dictator and calling him a reformed democrat at Chatham House, UK ahead of 2015 elections because of his personal ambition, forgetting that a pig, no matter how clean it's bathed would always go back to the mud to wallow. We can see he's truly a reformed democrat now. Like every other Nigerian who committed and admitted their error, I apologise for voting buhari. Please forgive me.

Like we survived the worse moments of the military in this country, this moment too shall pass. God bless Nigeria.

Buhari should address the nation

Don't change the topic.

Addressing the nation now is obviously late. He should rather take a bolder step by implementing something (anything that stands for national unity). That's the way forward. But I trust the cabals have told him to remain silent that nothing is happening

I plead with Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and other former Presidents/Heads of State to urgently convene an Emergency Meeting of National Council of State to find a solutions to the problems on ground because the current administration looks overwhelmed or that they are more parochial than being nationalistic in proffering solutions to the problems on hand. This is more than ethnic chauvinistic idea. We need a national outlook to get out of the current quagmire.

Obasanjo that wiped about four whole villages is here forming Saint. Obasanjo massacred more than 2000 people between 1999-2001.

Make no mistake, they are all the same.
He's even more brutal than Buhari, albeit, more intelligent.

If it was Obasanjo, the protest won't go beyond the first day cos he would have deployed soldiers immediately the protests started.

Like Obasanjo, like Buhari.

It's just that Buhari's lack of education is really taking a toll on him.

Haven said that, RIP to our fallen heroes.

You probably don't know Obasanjo.

He would have issued an ultimatum to the governors of affected states, and then sent in the troops if the governors don't clear the crowd in 24-48 hours.

Obasanjo is the worst of them all.

Very intolerant, and power drunk.

...and tell us what? What other addressing do you want after the president sent soldiers against peaceful protesters? It's like most of you do not know the methods of communication. Just so you know, there are verbal and non-verbal communication. What we need isn't the president addressing, we need the intervention of the united nations!!
