Peaceful protesters gave impetus to angry mob who loot arms at a police station. What we will actually see next are ARMED angry mobs, who will kill without anyone condemning their actions. Afterall, all of them have turned to "peaceful protesters".

Our police stations have become symbols of oppression for both the criminal minded and the law abiding citizen.

No Keke Napep or Okada rider loves any interaction with the police station. You would find 3 or more of such keke or Okada impounded at most police stations, waiting for a bribe to be paid.

I interpreted what the patriotic youths did as going to that police station to freely bail the accused there who have not been charged to court, hence their presence in a police cell, as opposed to being remanded in a prison while trial is ongoing.

No one arrested can be held in police custody for more than 24hrs except over a weekend.

How many of those who have now been freely bailed by the patriots have been held in police custody for weeks with a court charge or a police discharge or a free bail effected by an adult citizen, while the political class continues to tarry over judicial reforms that ought to be hastened?

Police bail is free in Nigeria, and any police station that refuses to adhere to that law, has become a lawless entity within a lawful Nigeria.

Such lawless entity must never be allowed to remain.

Tear down those gates of oppression all over the country.

Those who have been freed by the patriots should now proceed to sue the police and the government for wrongful incarceration and kidnapping.

Or the miscreants amongst them may go back to kidnapping and causing havoc.
