Yeah you do...depending on your program though! If your program is fully funded with stipend then no need.

depending on your service center it will take a minimum of 5 months for approval. You are not allowed to work or school while waiting for approval so you are going to need a letter from a close relative who is a citizen or green card holder stating that you will be staying with them pending when it’s approved.

This is the same abuse of the B1/B2 Visa system that USInNigeria uses in implementing stringent measures for others year in year.
The intention is to go to the US and apply for F1 and not Business or Tourism purposes.

Why not apply for the F1 here?

I also have every intention of relocating to the US and I have used my B1/B2 to initiate groundworks to get an L1A visa. It's cheaper, faster, and a legal path to living in the US.

What abuse are you talking about that? Do you even know what you’re saying? Change of Status is 100% legit. What exactly is wrong with you Nigerians? The fact that you’re ignorant about a process don’t mean it doesn’t exist or people are not doing it every day.
Other nationalities do it every day. Have you ever heard of change of intent? E.g you apply for B1/B2 for the purpose Visiting a relative after the visit you became amazed with the wonderful system of education in the country so you decided to gain admission in a school to get some feel of the education system before going back home?
So I must come back to Nigeria to apply for F1 visa abi? Mtcheww
Oyibo ppl don’t have the kind of sick mentality you Black ppl have.

Yess...you have to fill two I-539 forms and do two biometrics. One for the change of status and the other for extension of stay( so that you will still be in status at the time your case is decided. The folks that change from other visa class like F2 etc usually don’t extend their stay.

The attached image is my response to you along with someone who has started that he has a B1/B2 and will proceed with AOS for F1 after crossing.

Will you be confident to tell the CBP officer at PoE you are intending to go ahead with AOS for F1, which you have misrepresented to the VO already?

This is my point of view. Don't use abusive language. State your points and if you have superior arguments, we will learn. If I have, we will learn. It's not a pissing contest about the size of your intelligence or lack of mine.

Everyone has immigration intent. I have stated mine. And how I am using my B1/B2 to get a valid immigration visa.

Bro your response was based on an assertion not based on somebody that is willing to learn or perhaps Argue. I have satisfied my conscience by replying the op@naxee9294

Regarding the CBP and VO stuff, I don’t want to share personal experiences of ppl with you because you have decided to go the way of ppl who know nothing but feel they know all. Stay Safe bro

Good day. Please i want to find out if Electronic I-20 is acceptable or it has to be couriered from my School in the US. And when you got your Visa application form from the bank. What date were you given for Visa interview date. Also for SIVES Fee. How much is the equivalent in Naira.
Thank you for your response

nelem:

Not a big deal.
You will show your i20 (so keep it handy), you might be asked what school/course you are coming for.
Trust me it's not a big issue to worry yourself about. Just be relaxed and be confident.

cheers

Good day.

Please I want to find out if Electronic I-20 is acceptable or it has to be couriered from my School in the US:

I heard the embassy is accepting a print out of the e-copy that was sent. if you also have the couriered one that's fine too. I had a hard copy during my time

And when you got your Visa application form from the bank. What date were you given for Visa interview date:

I scheduled my date in the usual way.
https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/?language=English&country=Nigeria

Also for SIVES Fee. How much is the equivalent in Naira:
The cost is $350 with some extra charges ($1020). the exchange rate is prevalent on the date

Hello people, please is there any thread for flights and flight bookings?

Good day. I am planning on travelling this month to the US and I have a few questions. Are there restrictions e.g, I am aware that on my way back to 9ja I have to run a covid test and upload but is the same thing required when I am entering the US? Is two weeks quarantine still in effect or can I travel to the states I want to go to considering the whole trip is actually for two weeks? Thank you as I await answers
Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by Teshoma1111: 1:17pm On Nov 01, 2020
From what I learned, there are no tests required entering the states, but confirm with your airline if you need a test done. I don't know about quarantine, but I made my duration 3weeks Incase there's a mandatory 2weeks quarantine.
Please what airline did you use, I'm trying to book a flight for dec.

Turkish Airline.
LOS - IST - JFK

Nobody asked for my COVID Test all through NGA leg. At the IST - JFK leg, we got NY.GOV Contact Tracing Form, and booked for Test for Friday

Arrived JFK 11.10am today.
Used the CBP Kiosk. Declared shea butter so I was directed to a long queue.
Reason for visit: Holiday and 2 Business Meeting
How much in you: $300 and my Naira Cards
What did you declare: Shea butter?

Stamped May 02 and welcome to the United States.

Ticket cost is not static. It's a function of many variables. I am sure people on the same flight paid less and some more

Yello Damian, am afraid @fkj950ax isn't entirely wrong as your intention to school was not made known during your interview. You deciding to change status just like that after visiting is part of the reasons the USCIS still considers Nigerians as high risk when it comes to returning to their countries. Some of us wanna leave eventually when it's right but it has to be done the right way.

Read here

It is possible to obtain a B2 visa with the intent of changing to F1 or M1 student status. In order to do so, the prospective student must state this as his or her intention at the consulate and present evidence that he or she will be eligible for student status. If the B2 visa is approved, it will be marked “prospective student” at the consulate [see 67 FR 18065]. If an alien is seeking a B2 visa with the intention of attending school, it is important for the alien to properly represent his or her intentions when seeking the visa at the consulate. As we will discuss in the next section, an alien who is found to misrepresent his or her intentions will be found to be ineligible for the change of status and potentially face adverse immigration consequences.
