A lot of factors determines the average life of a battery. Are you over charging? Are you understand charging? What is the drainage percentage before you charge. Temperature... Although the batteries are cooled by air but we have different climates. At the end of the day that 8 years is best case scenario. You might be looking at most 6years.

Why not just use fossil fuels to charge electric vehicles in order to please activists. Oil engines have typical efficiencies of less than 55%. Burn 100MW of fuel to produce max 55MW to power electric vehicles with less than 60% efficiency.

This is oxymoron. Defeats the purpose of electric car. How can you use diesel generator to charge the car? You could as well buy an hybrid that uses fuel and battery and no need for charging stations
