Mr. Governor, Wake Up And Do Something About Akwa Ibom Roads Akwa Ibom State is connected with a network of federal, state and local roads having a total length of about 6,288km, of this 602km (9.6%) are under Federal control, 2159.2km (34.3%) under State roads and the remaining 3526.8km (56.1%) are earth/local roads constructed by local government (Umoren, 2008). No reasonable person can deny the deplorable state and quality of public works in Akwa Ibom State since the current government. Many Akwa Ibom roads are in as bad or worse form than in the attached images. There is not a major road stretch constructed or maintained by the current AKSG that can pass any good quality test. Does the governor ever wake up early at 4am to deeply reflect on how bad his leadership has handled roads maintenance and new construction projects? Does the governor and local government chairmen ever listen to calls for action without assuming that criticisms are just for fun and by their enemies? What is wrong with Gov. Udom Emmanuel that he appears to have no good leadership bone and cannot listen to good advice? To fix some good roads and city streets in Akwa Ibom is not like constructing a winding highway up Mt. Kilimanjaro. Good roads are no longer a privilege and favour, but a right for all 21st century Akwa Ibom State communities. For roads construction and maintenance, we have more than enough funds from statutory allocations to the State and local government areas. So, Gov. Udom Emmanuel, wake up early one morning and reflect on why your administration is so notorious for broken and flooding roads. In case you have forgotten, you are paid to serve Akwa Ibom State.
