Let me paraphrase you, you mean the peaceful youth should have fought away the youth thugs while still protesting peacefully?? Is that the job of the peaceful youth protesters? If Yes! then what happens to people paid to protect lives and property?

Secondly, are the attacks by thugs and hoodlum inspired by the fact that they don't like peaceful protest? or the fact that they were hired to do their violent work like we have always observed? or it is just mere coincidence of the fact that they just see it as an opportunity?

let me hear your view
The Governments across the world were able to manage Covid-19 pandemic because they were able to balance the right to life (protect the health of their citizens) and the right to movement by imposing a lockdown but allowing people to purchase necessaries while relaxing the lockdown slowly.

The Government of every nation has to create a balance between libel , hate speech and freedom of speech. If the Government blocks the internet so that there will be no libel or hate speech how will those making a living off the internet feel?

Creating a balance between conflicting interests is an important role of any leadership.

Chapter 4 of the Nigerian Constitution provides for right to peaceful assembly which involves right to protest and at the same time provides that no other person should restrict the right to movement of another. After SARS became defunct and the Federal Government promised to look into the 5 point demands, they started blocking roads and restricting the free flow of movement especially to workers who survive on daily income.

The trouble came because the youth saw so much power and then did not create a balance between road users and protesters. The government came in to create that balance. If they walked and protested on the pedestrian part of the road for a year, no one would care.

The first group of attackers were transport workers who clearly were fed up with the low income they were making daily because of road blockades. The youth, just like their old leaders failed to accept blame and rather pushed the attack on MC Oluomo , their chairman. Taking blame and knowing when to quit is also crucial.

That's just one of many answers to your question. I will give you other answers if you wish.

Typical of a directionless youth, always blaming his parents for all his woes and never grateful for the little they gave.

Many of you think adulthood is all about freedom to copulate like donkeys and smoke like chimneys.

Hey, adulthood is all about being responsible for your life. If you decide to copulate like a donkey then it's assumed that you know all the risks involved; STDs, societal stigma, threats and attacks from Exes etc. If you decide to smoke like a chimney then you know the effects; lung damage, financial costs, social stigma etc.

So being an adult means people and the law will safely assume you're deliberate in all your decisions.

No matter what your parents did or undid to you, once you become an adult the ball is in your court. You either shoot it or keep whining about your parents.

You better stand up and take responsibility for your life. Many of your mates grew up without the little your parents gave you, yet they lived against the odds.

Grow up toddler.
couldn't continue reading all this giberrish since I noticed it's full of insults from a presumably old parent, that was okay with whatever life brought.

it's just so hard for African "Parents" -as you mentioned, to apologise when they are wrong and say "oh, am sorry my child" ; they begin to tell you how the wrong they do is right and start using the available grammatical mix-ups to defend themselves.
Martin Luther fought for whatever little privileges that blacks have now, atleast, blacks can sit on the same table with the white folk and even be elected as President, if not for Abraham Lincoln, slavery would still be persistent till date. Mary Slessor was there for the twins we see today, even Jesus as a youth defended/protested for a woman who would have been stoned to death because of a crime that wasn't new.

all of these people amongst many fought respectively.but Here in Nigeria/Africa, lemme drop a typical example;

police started collecting as little #20 at checkpoints and you guys never protested nor questioned,it became normal, it moved to #50, #100 and now they move around with POS because You(because I presume that's your wise generation) did nothing to curb it then. these politicians hired your generation back then to discredit elections and all the brohaha that goes on ,and you did nothing to stop it...you just dey okay with your life,u no reason future me?
are you getting the picture?

youths have grown to meet this lifestyle by your folk because they say, train a child in a way he would grow...

presently,as regards to what Charles Awurum is talking about youths being their own problem he no mention una o, and as your head the hot. you come the lamblast me anyhow.cheesy , oga make u cross check yourself when u want talk o, you can be satisfied with what you've got but the youths of now ain't dumb no more. we deserve better cos we eveything is better now.

say na "grow up toddler" grin
you no well aswear!

I know say u go still feel like say u talk better thing; twaile!

All of you should stop shouting youths. Our problem has nothing to do with youths but leadership which can come from anyone be it youth or elder. We have elders ruling in other climes as well.

The looting is a direct result of a failed leadership system. All our successive leaders in government be it politician, director, IG, head of services etc have failed us. Average Nigerian citizens have contributed as well.

It's a black man thing. The folks that were looting during the #BLM were blacks.
That's a damn lie! We had whites, hispanics etc, why do you people love to spread lies?

If you properly read what he wrote you would realize he's got a point. How can we claim we want a better country when we contribute to its demise? Be it looting, be it yahoo or soemthing else, are we confident that once we get rid of this system, the next system would be better for everyone?

Failed government caused you to lie, caused you to cheat, caused you to steal? When will it stop? When you kill? Can we define youth? Let's use age of 13-40, do you know how many young politicians we have in this country, from councillors to LG chairman and legislators? How many of them can come out and say they made life better for their people? It's not a matter of old vs youths, it's a matter of the Nigerian mentality, a corrupt, wicked, evil mentality!

I'm a very young person but I know the youth are not different from the elders.

When they say youth should rule Nigeria people only think about the small percentage who had the privilege of acquiring quality education not the majority who never passed through a Philosophy and logic class or even understood what they were taught if they even attended the classes.

When they say youth should rule Nigeria people only think about those who graduated without any trouble in school not those who were running around campuses beheading fellow human beings like cavemen in the name of Cultism.

When they say youth should rule Nigeria people only think of those living in Lekki and Banana Island with Satellite TV to see the world beyond their confines and not the majority living in slums with only propaganda Television channels like LTV and European football leagues at viewing centers at their disposal.

When they say youth should rule Nigeria people think about the few rich entertainers and sportsmen who do not understand basic laws and are motivated by hard drugs.

They think about the woke ones on twitter not the ones breaking into people's businesses. The banks they broke into donated for the CACOVID palliatives they are still looting but because they do not read so they still punish those private businesses despite their corporate social responsibility.

Amaechi, Udom , Yahaya Bello , Gowon ,Buhari (head of State) , Obasanjo (Head of State) , Ojukwu (Head of State) etc ruled as youths.

To be honest , if you are not a member of the Blackk Axxe or affiliated to the cult, you can't join a particular music label owned by a youth. There's another one you cannot join if you are not a bird. Walking in the real streets away from Twitter I always feel that nepotism would be based on cult groups and not even ethnicity in the future
I reason with you!

How where the first form of attackers the transport workers?? Oh my God, please which location are you typing this from? Please please let’s be realistic here, first waves of attackers in Lagos precisely at Ikeja came with BRT buses, and in cases before the toll gate incident, thugs were organized and in group, this only happen if it was sponsored. Infact there was a video circulating around where a man dressed in suit in a jeep was transporting thugs around.

It is very easy for you to cook up sweet conspiracy to back up your hallucinations but you would not find sufficient fact to back up same claims.

Moreso you claimed that the president accepted the request but we all know that they are notorious for such behavior and the end result is that they wouldn’t do anything about it!

Aside that you spoke about protesting at the road side, please what sort of protest is that? Blocking road is not violence of any form, it is to pressurize the government to act Speedily, what is in the five request that is so hard to implement?

Be stop being dogmatic

You are the one spreading conspiracy theories. The BRT bus attacks were orchestrated by those who drove those buses , conductors and other transport workers whose source of livelihood was blocked by protesters.

The country was going on in the right direction when old and experienced men like Tafewa Balewa , Obafemi Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello and Azikiwe were ruling until 33 years old Yakubu Gowon and 34 years old Ojukwu took over and led the country into a civil war. stanliwise
