While a good number of revolutions fail & sometimes makes things worse than before; some few others succeed & brings the desired positive changes.
To me, the problem has always been the unpredictability of revolutions. People easily lose control. Easy to hijack.
Revolution is basically a very high stake gamble, with the stakes been relative peace & human lives.

like i admonish earlier, don't be closed or narrow minded. You initially used Revolution bt now you are saying specifically political revolution. Guy Revolution occurs in different forms & degree. There are political, economic, social & cultural Revolution. You seems to be among the buck of people who have the believe that revolution is all about violent unrest or overthrow or it always about politics.Well suit yourself.

About the American Revolution, yes it was partly a fight against colonialism. Bt what you may not understand is that it went beyond that. American Revolution drastically changed things in America & the world. This is because it pushed to the forefront & mainstream & also largely practicalized the ideas of Democracy, Presidential system of govt, Equality of all men, Electoral suffrage among many others which were hitherto uncommon then. Even today many countries still copy the American System & allude to American democracy. Also it is still within this system that your precious capitalism thrived the most.

In conclusion, i notice you hate revolution or the word revolution. I understand. But you have to understand that sometimes & in some cases revolution is inevitable because of certain factors & failings/weaknesses of the status quo. The fact that there is loss of human lives in political revolutions doesn't mean it is unnecessary or it fails.
Since you insist on examples successful political revolutions in history. checkout the Roman Revolution of 509-510 BC & the Athenian Revolution.
