Minister Of Police Affairs Carries Out Inspection As SWAT Commences Training

The new police unit called Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT) on Monday began its training with over 400 personnel at the Police Mobile College in Eggon, Nasarawa State.

Present at the training ground was the Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi, and other officials who came to inspect the training exercise.

In his opening remark, the Minister said he was happy with the progress the personnel was making and charged them to be good role models of the society.

“I believe at the end of this exercise you are going to come out as very dedicated and very committed mobile police officers who will be equal to the task we have assigned to you” he added.

”Your new responsibility as a replacement to SARS is to face the challenges of armed robbery and other crimes across the country.”

He also acknowledged the changing times and advised the personnel to uphold the principles of democracy and human rights as they get set to carry out their new task.

The minister further assured the personnel of President Muhammadu Buhari’s readiness to improve their welfare and other packages promised them.

The personnel who are over 400 have been undergoing training for weeks at the college, which is the second location of the SWAT personnel training in the country.

The police Bosses cannot do without a money making Unit.

Nothing will be different between them and SARS.

SARS that was trained by UK police turned out a mess more of this hurriedly packaged group.

Never seen a situation where a security unit is hurriedly put up and training started immediately unless its an active conventional war time.

When did they have the time to carefully articulate a training doctrine based real events happening on ground?

Very insensitive people.

A nation still using police stations built in 80s

400 personell for over 200 million people.divide 400 by 36 states, that will give 11 personnel per state. I think there is a hidden agenda in this police special squad arrangement other than fighting crime.

A change in name and uniform without a change in ideology and behaviour will not address the issue

It’s obvious everything in this country is on a decline and everyone that matters is Jostling to worsen the decline!

This is not what this men need.

They need to be trained high tech intelligence gathering, advance weapon handling and shooting, psychosocial training. Above all, they need to be paid well. Not the usual targets those ogas give them to meet.

They need to be trained like a hawk. Go in pick the criminals, and go out. because there no difference between what I am seeing now and the training our officers receive.

The number of security personnel in NO Nigeria is just too low, hence the high rate of insecurity in some parts of the country.

We really need more security personnel in the country.

This further reiterates the how important it is for the country to be restructured.

These guys with big stomachs are discouraging. It is a sign of indiscipline for someone in the force to have a big stomach.

they have to also be trained on how to engage citizens and suspects not only takwando or kungfu training.

They have to be trained on how to act professional when on duty not actiing like rascals on duty, they have to be remeinded that they are humans and treat others like humans and they shouldn't let the pride that comes with uniform and the gun get into their heads. There has to be consequence for misbehavior.

All these takwando no be Koko the main thing is being professional, human, how they treat and handle civilians
