Group of elderly pensioners were seen sitting on plastic chairs on major road in Calabar, Cross River State and singing "all we are saying, give us pension" as they demand payment of their pension.

Pensioners in Cross River State have taken to the streets to protest the non-payment of their benefits to them by the state government since 2014.

The pensioners, who were local government workers, blocked the Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar metropolis as they arranged chairs and sat on the two lanes of the road.

They also chanted songs and carried placards as they asked Governor Ben Ayade to pay them their pensions.

It was gathered that the pensioners were among those the state government announced to have been dead.

It was gathered that some retirees, who have not been paid since 2014, have concluded plans to drag Ayade to the National Industrial Court in Calabar.

The decision was reached after a series of protests to Ayade’s office yielded no positive result.

The pension being owed by the state government was put at over N35bn.

Ayade will be speaking big big grammars, so he's owing pension?

Ayade and Yahaya are not good representatives of youths in politics.

Nigeria government (Calabar government) how much is the pension self.
I am sure that one political appointee in your state will be able to pay off the pensioners.
Please take care of the pensioners please

Nigeria is just specially cursed with special bad leaders.

Forget being ruled by educated people, even most of our professors are stack illiterate that only read books from 1882 note books, no research to further their claims.

Imagine a professor who should know better is owing pensioners what they have worked for, for years.

You can never see any politicians being owe, even a retired councillors are enjoying their benefit steadily steadily without moving out of their compound before being paid what they are entitled to.

Whalai all Nigeria professors are all scam, majority of them are not different from illiterate.

Ben ayade need to burn his professorship certificate and start parading himself as an SSCE holder

Nonsense

Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate or despise, serves to defeat us in the end. What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy, and strength, if faced with an open mind.
