Who said Igbos are not welcoming and accommodating? A video of a woman from Sokoto State is currently trending on social media. The woman share by one Mbe Nwaniga on his Facebook timeline reads

This video posted on one of our WhatsApp group just made my morning. The beautiful woman said her name is Safiya Ali, originally from Tangaza LGA in Sokoto state. She came to Enugu when she was 12 years old, lived here now for over 25 years and had 11 children. She said her landlord in Enugu waived rent for her long time ago, so she's not been paying any rent but receiving numerous support from the landlord and her neighbours. She tried to join her husband in Abuja but found the FCT less liveable than Enugu.

She speaks flawless Igbo with proverbs and no trace of Hausa accent. Listening to her, i felt exactly the same way i felt when i met Sule who spoke better Nsukka than myself before telling me he is "onye Hausa Ibagwa". Enugu has a way of not just integrating people superbly but bringing the best out of residents from every ethno-religious background.

Incidents of the past week have no roots in our culture and disposition.This is the Nigeria of our dreams!

We even welcome visitors more than our people in south East. I have many friends who have served in the east from North and west and they still remember the hospitality we showed them.

There have been ethnic unrest in jos, Kaduna, Lagos, Delta. Please accept that IPOB is a menace that need to be eradicated from the land of south east. Meanwhile, this thread is about promoting unity in the country.

The country sought independence from the colonial masters, Kano indigenes in d 50s rioted and targeted Igbos. An Hausa man stole a Yoruba man’s mandate, the Igbos were killed. A coup was done to liberate a Yoruba man whose mandate was stolen by a fellow Yoruba man with help from a Northerner, it was tagged an Igbo coup and Igbos were killed.

I’m all for unity but if an ailment is not properly diagnosed, then the treatment is just a waste of resources. We can’t be talking about unity when no one has ever been held to account for all the loss of lives and properties. Accountability is the first step in unity to forestall a repetition.
