God forbid bad thing. They will be more brutal and worse than custom, army or police if allowed to carry guns.

Abeg we citizens should resist it like we resisted SARS and compelled the government to disband it.

it seems our leaders are very confused set of people
Shoot bandits and armed criminals of course. Is either you're not aware of the crime rate on our highways, or you just wanna ignore it.

Good news

Nigerians only fear Guns

Many Frsc officers have been killed by reckless drivers (hit and run)

If Nigerians were law abiding there will not be need for these officers to carry gun

You see our problem? What is good about the news. Hit and run drivers exit because Nigeria does not have a database. Instead of telling your government to do the right thing by putting the right systems in place, you are here supporting a useless policy. Why can't we learn from other saner and developed countries? Are Nigerian leaders cursed

FRSC carry gun? To do what exactly? To cause accidents or prevent it? How does bearing arms aid their duties? We are talking of brutality from their brother organisation and here we are arming another set of *bbers. If there is nothing else to legislate on it is better the house go on permanent recess I beg.

Guys, I am a staff of FRSC and I can say that we need an armed squad, though not to stand on the road but to sit in the patrol van and watch to protect our patrol men and women from mob attacks. If I show you guys gorry pictures of our personnel's knocked down and killed and mobs attack our men. We even record cases of our men being killed by get away armed robbers. If not the way Nigeria is I would have left the job for something better. Last time an orderly to a politician shot our men for simply standing by the side of the road. We are parents too and need protection too. We are constantly harassed simply because we are accused of taking bribe. Is that enough reason to take our lives. On the brighter side, we can assist the police to fight highway robbery. The police is currently overwhelmed. With sufficient training we will be better than the police in the use of arms.

A group created to reduce death from road accidents will now start carrying Arms to to kill traffic offenders ? Does this even make sense ?
It surely doesn't make any sense.
Sometimes one really wonder if the National house of Representatives are actually for the people they represent.
Imagine a motorist having to face several arms bearing road officers everywhere.
The House should first of all question the real purpose of FRSC on Nigerian roads.
They are supposed to ensure safety for motorists and not become a terror.
Nigerians should be able to drive without being terrified. Driving is supposed to be a pleasure.
The house of Representatives should reconsider this move.

I am seriously afraid of where this country Nigeria is heading to. If 1992 Act of FRSC allowed the corps to carry guns, does it mean we are moving forward or back ward. In 1992 no mobile phone, no email, no laptop most of this technology is not exist then. with all available technology to control motorist in 2020 the only thing Nigerian lawmaker find usable is gun.

sometime i wonder how this people set the future of this nation from the past, we are talking about police brutality now we will start protest about FRSC brutality. what are they using gun for? to force and intimidate a Nigerians because he drives vehicle in his country? it is not a time to merge FRSC back to police unit. all over the world police motor control unit is under police command, the police command use to create a section of office for them in the police station where issue concern traffic offence are treated.

I just see this as another avenue for wast, they should also make law for traffice warders to carry gun.

this is evidence of how our leaders plans our future, putting new wine in old bottle, when are we going to move forward as a nation?

FRSC are even worse than police on the road without Guns cos even with your vehicle papers ok once they collect your driver's licence they will be looking for other excuses like your plate number, tyres and other nonsense just to collect money, I use to respect them before but lately they are very useless set of people.
The question is - Should the FRSC be doing the VIO's job? Are they not supposed to be on the highways to prevent accidents and assist accident victims. Why are they stopping motorists to check vehicle particulars. That is not their job!

If you people do your work perfectly, there shouldn't be all that accident you mention. is Nigerians not driving in others countries, how many police high ways control have they kill in others countries?

How can a FRSC official jump in middle of the road to stop a vehicle in high way without expecting knock down. what are you stopping the vehicle for? how many FRSC office suppose to stop 1 vehicle in a day? why is it that papers that produce by FRSC office to drivers will be later faulted by another FRSC officer on the road? if there's fault in vehicle particulars, is it the driver you suppose to hold responsible or the road safety office the issue the particulars? you get knock down because you out their to suffer masses and steal their money.

Nigerian haven't grow to level of forcing people to use some special Tyre because of this and that, even all might south African are not driving with that class your forcing Nigerians to jump into. even all the vehicle using by government department drive any tyre they can afford. you don't force hungry man to have peace. give him food and he will have peace. you people are cause untold hardship to masses and you now want gun to kill those you will label offender.

Do you're job as it suppose and earn your respect, gun can only create more enemy to the FRSC. there's Godooo

This leave much to desire. However, the desecration of the FRSC by the motorist is also undesirable and highly condemnable.

what is VIO work if i may ask, all this department don't have job to do, they are created for wast of resources. in develop nation even our neighboring Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast. all this department are under police unit, High way police patrol take care of vehicle on high way for protection and assist if there's emergency not to stop vehicle traveling from Lagos to Benin at multiple check point. the traffic warders take over to control traffic where there's no traffic light not to steal from motorist because he's unsatisfied police officer. this people mostly VIO don't have any job to do on our road if the nation is functioning well
