My lecturer refused to approve my seminar topic because I didn’t greet him when I saw him the other day outside campus. I had to lie I didn’t see him, it took 2 weeks of begging before he later approved it

I call all my Professors by their first names. These are people at the pinnacle of their field o! They are well known in their research areas. Also, I remember I had an assignment that I felt he overlooked part of my work and brought it to his attention. Just look at the response for God's sake grin grin In Nigeria they'll say I'm challenging them.

There are still some good Ogas in naija university o.
I was in my first year then and not that familiar with the faculty building. I wanted to exchange my teller for receipt. I asked a fellow newbie where she got hers, she gave me the wrong room number. The next day, i went there and was expecting to meet the cashier but I met one small oga in a smaller room just before a bigger office. Unknown to me, that is the office of one of the Professors. O boy, i just weak. The man asked the Secretary (small oga) to letme in and the prof offered me a seat. I almost piss for body grin . We sha conversed and he later refered me to the appropriate office.
On that day, we automatically became friends.

BTW , make una check my signature o

Nigerian Lecturers are not that bad

back then I saw 22 as my GST English score on the notice board and my exam was written ABSENT.

so i complained to one of my lecturer. I was surprised how quietly he stood up and said lets go to the GST dept...we went there and he enter the office and bla bla bla some minutes later he came out with the lecturer and we went to the exam office and I was told to find by paper.

i went straight to my group and was searching and BOOM I saw my exam Booklet with a Big (46)

46+22=68 i.e B

the lecturer apologizes and immediately corrected it

BUT i said BUT
if it's the university that am in right NOW, if you have a C.O whether you failed it or the fault is from them just forget it and register for the course again

i won't tell the name of the Uni sha but it's in the Middle belt and their fee is 45K grin

With all these experiences, you people still come back to beha worst that those that have never left Nigeria.
If Nigerians who travel out came back to practice at least one good thing they e learned, Nigeria would have been better than it is now.

You're right. The ones who schooled abroad are a little more jovial than their colleagues who never left the shores of Nigeria for education.
.

I know of one in Uniben who schooled in Manchester. He's the spawn of the devil.

No body both students and even his subordinates has good things to say about him

Please and please, that is the UK. They have their own way of doing things. We are in Nigeria and we have our own way of doing things.

And which one do you think is more conducive for impacting knowledge?

The thing is, those of us in this part of the world are barely SURVING..
This is not how life is meant to be lived..

Nigerian lecturers that see themselves as demigods... Very outdated and wicked sets of people..

In all areas of life, being a Nigerian living in Nigeria is frustrating ... Nothing seems to be normal. It's not only limited to the education sector.

We have a long way to go in this country

I lost my Dad the week I was supposed to deliver my project to the Lecturer in charge.

I was traumatized and torn apart by his death.
Worst part... I was barely halfway through the project and was already out of time..

Thought if I approached my Lecturer and told him my plight I might get an extension or waiver of some sort.

These were his exact words... "Your Dad is dead? So what's my business?". He went on to express in very clear terms how he didn't give a sh!t and how I wouldn't graduate if I didn't submit the project to him within the stipulated time.

... Well, I didn't graduate.

But I know one day I'll meet that fool again, this time he'll be old and frail.. And I'll make sure he pays for his many sins.

That is subjective. After all our universities are still graduating students.

We must not do things the way the whites do it. That is an inferiority complex.

In Japan, when children first go to school they are taught how to behave, they don't do anything academics.

That's their own way.

We have our way.

However, I am not in support of the excesses of lecturers.
But being respectful to your lecturers is no brainer, as opposed to calling him by his name or replying that what he said is stupid.

I understand your point, what is wrong with calling someone by their name?

Even if you try to correct them diplomatic na still problem.

Has our method of graduating pessimistic graduate being helpful, we don't have to copy them but clearly this method is not working.

Lol, true sha. But not all lecturers behave like that.

The 2nd bolded,

When you are in school and you are hearing that graduates are roaming the streets jobless, some having been looking for job for years, that is demoralising.

Or when you see pictures of millions of youths that came to apply for jobs that has only 10,000 vacancies.

All that can only lead to the said students being pessimistic about their future.
