same here mine was IG. My account was disabled after posting the lekki massacre video. Their reason was that I support violent and dangerous organization. Led me to believe that FG actually paid them to silence them.

You have to learn that Facebook as an online platform reserves the right to decide what they want and what they don't.

If it doesn't align with your views, then you delete your account. They have made their stance known and you supposedly read it when you agreed to terms and conditions.

I agree that facebook has the right to do what it wants, but facebook is a cross border platform. So the ideology of its home country would not be the same as the ideologies of other countries.

What i have been trying to say is, there can be a part of facebook that is Nigerian facebook. Where Nigerians are allowed to be themselves without having to worry about rules that were made by americans without input from them.

Going forward that is how it would have to be, more and more governments are beginning to regulate SM. Facebook is banned in China simply because facebook believes in their own(American) version of freedom of speech which does not align with China's views.

Look at NL, there are things that are being said on this platform that you can't say on facebook. This is because NL is a Nigerian platform created for Nigerians by Nigerians, so they understand the Nigerian mentality. And therefore the rules are tailor made to suit Nigerians.

Facebook is run as a company and not as a country. While the rules of Facebook might correlate with that of the US, it doesn't have to follow it tit for tat.

I don't think there's any US rule that mandates Facebook to ban its users because of hate speech. Rather, Facebook took it upon itself to discourage such.

When Donald Trump banned People from certain countries from entering the US in early 2017. Facebook was among the companies who protested the decision, whereas they could have just fired their employees who were stuck in their home countries.

Their decision to ban hate speech is an internal policy and not because they are trying to follow the rules of a certain country.
