Have you ever been flogged by a teacher during secondary school days?



Mine: I am the kind of person who didn't mind receiving any amount of the cane on my hand.

I couldn't stand sb flogging me on my back or elsewhere.


Na so that day reach, oga say if no be back e no go flog. I begged him and even lied to him it's a religious sth that I don't receive canes elsewhere.

He later agreed to flog my hand. The cane was so painful. As I was going to sit, he gave one last cane to my back.

I ran mad immediately scratching the pain. It was just like I was dancing. I was laughed at by the teacher and some students.

I vowed to retaliate on the teacher.


Well, we lost the teacher to death about three months later.

I forgave him and really wish he hadn't died. At least, I discovered there were other positive things about him.


2. There was one huge guy in our class we feared and respected. Na so dem dey flog all of us, we cry as per normal. You must always cry if ‘Uncle Tony’ flogs you. But this huge guy was a staunch cain chester. E reach en turn, dem flog am. He just waka go sit down, come bend head dey cry.

Lol.

I laughed that day like mad. Instead make my guy just bend head there, e come say ‘what if my daddy sees this wound now.. ’ Lol.


3. Egungun came to our school environs. They met one guy and flogged him shege. The guy refused to run so they kept flogging him.

People were like ‘oga run na’

E no gree.

He walked like that to where we gathered. He was already gaining fans as a strong posh guy till e come talk amid tears say ‘I swear I go do this egungun sth. I swear. My brother friend na head of Sarz. ’

I couldn't help it but go to the backyard to laugh out loud.

From grade 6 to grade 9, I was never whipped but I think I was whipped about 3 times from ss1- 3, on one of those times, I actually caused a scene because I had an embarrassing issue then. I can't remember why I was whipped those times though.

Life in Secondary school was fun but no matter the sweet experience there were bad times
im proud to be an ex commando but im not proud of the beating and punishment
I just cant forget the day oga clement came to our class jss2c to seize phone due to the fact that it is against the rules of cdssi to bring phone to school, Luckily fro me i did not bring phone to school that fateful day
Oga clement told the class captain to point out people who are of the habit of bringing phone to school
na so gloria started pointing people i was praying in my mind that gloria should not point me
na so gloria shouted idris come out
my heart started palpitating cos oga clement was a wicked soldier then that i felt like the ground should swallow me up
I manned up and started shouting at gloria unconscious of the soldier in front of me cos of the fear
as i pointed at gloria in demonstration of what i was saying
oga clement hit me with the fat cane he was holding at my wrist
that was how my wrist was broken
it is against the rukes of my school for parent to come and complain so i was treated at home and the case was closed

The second scenario was kinda tough on me
Most of my classmate in school den have the habit of keeping their bank draft instead of submitting it to the bursary as validation of payment of school fees cos cdssi always send us home for school fee so some will go and play ps 4 outside instead of going home and some will go to there friends house to play ball
On this bad day my mum gave me my bank draft to go submit in school cos they've being sending me home for days but on getting to school the soldiers said they are going to send us all home cos there were so many defaulters that morning
they rounded us all up to be sent home and majority of my friends though they've paid the school fees but wanted to go and watch merlin at a friend house so i joined them and failed to submit the bank draft...i was happy they were going to send us home cos i wanted to go and learn one of merlin's magic and authur fight
After the soldiers rounded us all up, i was thinking they will send us all home, shockingly we were told to all drop our bag and go lie down on the field, that they will beat us 8 stroke of cane each
i couldn't tell them that i have the bank draft in my bag cos that will be extra punishment
that was how the soldiers descended on us ooo
the way they were beating the others and the way the cane was landing on their back was making all my body shake
i started regretting my action at that moment
the kinda fear that catch me was out of this world
They got to me, gave me the 8 stroke, Afterwards we were told to all go pick cutlass and start cutting grass
we worked from around 8-11:30
momma saw my back when i got home but told her i was punished cos all the class were making noise so we were all flogged
so many experience cos i was stubborn then but everything na history now

Chaii. I remember back then in Js2. When I use mistake touch amaka for her backside and the mumu gal come go report. Hey God! See the way Aunty kemi flog me anyhow that day like say i thief her palliative

My own was that the reason why I always got whipped back then at school was my inability to read and write, even to spell my name was war for me. I would say I was Ode until my SS1 when I cried and prayed to God, that same night I saw an old man in plain white teaching me chemistry in my dream. After which the rest was history as my result now changed from 50 out of 50 to 3rd out of 50. was like a magic to everyone that knew me then even my parents was like WOW!

That was when I knew that until u call God with ur whole heart in truth and in spirit he'll answer u

e get one of our teacher for primary school that year, Mr Archibong. You see that 'bong' at the end, be like na the power wey you go use pronounce am e dey use flog us, he flog craze commot for our head, whether male, female, animal or spirit, he flogs anything. He can be writing on the board and just turn back and start flogging the whole class. I think he was born to flog actually. anytime we hear say him dey come, Usian Bolt dey learn for speed wey we dey carry.

But after all said and done, everything is past now
Funniest thing is, he still teaches. but he's quite of age now. Saw him sometimes back. And I just had to greet him with a grin I wondered ehya, time flies.

I was hardly flogged during secondary school, in fact most times when they flogged noise makers, I was spared because teachers know I hardly make noise.

But one day in, luck was not on my side. I was flogged 12 straight stokes in front of the class for something that someone else did. The teacher was not even one of my teachers, he taught senior secondary school students while I was a junior so he didn't know me well.

That is the only flogging experience I will never forget.

Other floggings were as a result of group punishments arising from the nuisance caused by beck-benchers because they just won't stop making noise. Once noise is emanating from one class, the teacher in the next classroom will just swoop in and flog everybody.
Sometimes when noise was high and I sensed danger, I will just sneak out to go and 'pee'. I will be like: shebi you people will not keep quiet, I cannot come and allow myself to be flogged because of you people.
And true to my fears, when I return from my fake peeing, I see everyone rubbing their palms in agony from the quick flogging they just received

I can bet most of em didn't go to a boarding school,a force sec school(command,navy or airforce etc.)or maybe a federal school .Places where you could get whipped for not just greeting a senior,lmao.

First time I was flogged was in Jss1.One girl was told to write names of noise makers and she wrote my name,even when my head was placed on my desk.When the teacher that sent her came back,I was shocked to hear my name called out.
The man gave me 6 strokes of the cane... something wen be say me don dey cry as Dem ordinarily call my name.When the first whip landed on my back,I was shaking like earthworm wey them pour salt on top him body....I cried ehn....I was literally swearing for the girl.
My friends went to meet her and protest that I wasn't even making noise that she should apologize...babe came and knelt down,with this Yoruba style of fist apology....I sha forgave her and we later went on to be the best of friends through my days at Fstc and even after graduation.

I've been flogged countless times...it's not even about being troublesome at all,in boarding school...them no dey chop cane alone na group something...if you chop am your hostel prefect say una group no do portion,when you actually did yours...you go chop am for class,say V.P pass and every body dey make noise...

No two words...flogging be like bicycle for boarding school.

Junior sec school no cane allowed in school, senior sec school, no week without us receiving punishment.

I never cried once in sec school not because the punishment is not painful but because I want to spite the teachers flogging me, I noticed they usual get angry when that’s done to them

I attended command day secondary school, odogbo barracks, ibadan. It was Agric assignment and we were told to plant beans. I forgot to plant mine till the deadline elapsed. I finally planted my own on the very day of submission and prayed to heavenly Father for a miracle. Beans refused to grow o. I almost collapsed when aunty asked me for my beans plant. I quietly pointed at the wet loamy soil in my can. The way sergeant Clement flogged me that day ehn... 2. They were chasing school fees defaulters home on this very day. I have paid school fees but I joined the defaulters anyways. We wanted to go and play ps2 and watch Spartacus. One female teacher refused to mind her business and told the soldiers that my mom has paid since last week and I wanted to run away from school . Of course, I denied. . But, after adequate mending, hangings and crawling, I confessed. I suffered gaaaan o....

I was in Ss3 that time and we were about writing the first term test. All classes (js1-Ss3) normally have their test and exams at the same time so there's always this tensed atmosphere everywhere.. That is exactly the time most students will be flogged for little reason.

So the principal and 2 male teachers were going from class to class to call out names of those who haven't paid for report card. that time we have to pay some fee for report card and we normally carry cutlass and hoe to school on the first day of resumption.

Unfortunately, I haven't paid for report card cuz I thought it wasn't necessary as an Ss3 student when I'm about to write my waec.

So I was called out with other students.
We line up in rows to receive our precious 3 strokes of cane. ( just 3 bro) it was a legit mass flogging.

My broda, as I saw the first guy reaction after chopping that cane I know something is not right.. That dude normally chop cane first and he won't even make any sound like say he no pain ham.. That day was a different case bruh... Dude chop 3 strokes and it was different sounds all through! ..

E reach my turn and I won form big boy but as the first stroke land my nyash I shout yeeeeeeeeee! I have never felt that kind thunder pain before. It was so so painful..
I chop cane finish began dey cry oo weyb say na my class teacher come dey beg me. Everybody come began dey pity me.. I wept like baby that day..

I don't know if that teacher actually used something to beat us that day cuz it was extremely painful.

I can't forget my physics teacher , he flogged the whole class 12 strokes early in the morning for noise making, with my empty stomach and innocent looking face

As the quiet boy I naturally am, I don't get flog a lot except its a general class flogging. But for jss1-3,these two men-Mr Alao and dehinbo nearly tear our yansh for army cantonment Ikeja. Mr dehinbo go say "shoot out your yansh, kpai kapi". Enter ss1-3,we got Mr abolarin, Mr abdusalaam, Mr olutoto, Mr lawal, Mr...... I Don eve. Forget their names. This was army children senior high Ikeja. They use my eyes see pepper. That idiot, Mr abolarin get mind tear my trouser say e too tight. I no blame an sha. I tire for school na I'm I carry my load comot for ss3 first term go write waec outside. I can't come and kill myself na. I leave Esther, beatrice and balikis, those girls when just carry my matter for head.


I hate secondary school in nigeria.

We bent the blades of all the ceiling fans in the secondary section. We received massive beating the next day for assembly, we cut grass till closing. And ww were made to pay for damages.
