There was a poll recently when people were asked if they support defund the police, 85% of people disagreed with it, when they were asked if the would support divert of some police funds to other social programs like health facilities, after school programs, justice reform, etc 90% agreed, the later is literally the meaning of defunding the police, directing of police funds to social programs, but the sloganism ”defund the police” is the problem, most naive people that don't understand it would think you mean abolish the police.

Even diverting money meant for the police to other areas apart from the police is still rubbish..Infact at this point is what they need more money..More money for training and the likes.Just like in Nigeria when the Endsars protesting are asking for more money and more funding for the police. They need to increase their knowledge base and their diversity by diverting money from their current form of ineffective policing to what is practised in advanced nations.
