These stems are for farmers,not shell workers and they can be planted anywhere there is soil... So I dont get the 'he should provide farmland" part!

Only farmers will understand the impact of this gesture. It's like giving a business man a seed capital after his shop got looted. Farmers pay heavily to get cassava stem which is all they need to produce the garri you eat.

Before you ignorantly comment trash, try to find out if it's the ordinary stem or improved cassava stem. If it's the latter, which common sense should tell you it is, then this gesture is very commendable. Improved stem re product of intensive research (did my 6months IT in a crop research institute) and tends to give higher yield within the best possible time!

My grouse in all of this is that, you'll still see people who queue to collect these things. Ludo, slippers, cup of rice, t-shirt, they will still fight to collect. Shey 2023 is around the corner.

The OP is mischievous by linking Donkey and Cassava. In reality this lawmaker is responding to the call by Igbos that it's a shame that they own mansions in several cities but no input in agriculture at home going by the recent threat by some northern traders to suspend food supply to the East starting with onions.
This has made many Igbos to become interested in supporting farmers and agriculture to bring down the cost of food in the South East by next farming season and has nothing to do with the donkey story.

Awesome. I sincerely commend the lawmaker for answering the call of his people by distributing high yield cassava stems to them. It is a constituency project worthy of commendation by all Anambrarians indeed.
