You have said it all, although some bolded part got me laughing and thinking(afraid ).
One4me:

At times, they have no choice moreover, "Old habits, die hard".
At what age do you want them to start running abroad and start hustling to settle down (which takes time, even if you win the Visa Lottery), then there is the issue of 'Wife turning to Husband' in London and America, something Old people will not find it easy to adjust to, if at all they want to adjust to it grin
When you are young (under 35yrs), one has the freedom to do it , make mistakes and do it all over again, but anything after 40yrs, na to dey tread jejely. That is where the HAPPINESS comes from grin

Long and Short, Small Garri and Groundnut with Peace of Mind, is better than McDonald Chicken with High Blood Pressure, if not Prison

Edit: If you hammer Govt money, Nigeria is one of the best place to lavish money and live a high tension but enjoyable lifestyle.

"Choose your hard"... That words hit my brain! cry

Living a good life, setting standards and making it work against all odds is hard. Living on false hopes from the government in power is harder. [b]Choose your hard.

Well, alhamdulillah...only small percentage of people living in Nigeria can afford all this alternative or people that have spent over 30yrs abroad like you! May God make it easy for everyone of us. Don't forget 30 minimum wages has not been paid to most workers grin

I’ve always felt that using “30 years abroad” is a cop out.

I’ve met many people here in Nigeria that couldn’t tell you where the airport is and they are living fulfilled life’s here.

Though they may not check the age range but do you want to tell me that Brabus, Spyder880, Skimanski, KolaShangOne don’t have the listed items?

Is very hard for sure and why expectations have to be set.

I have friends who refuse to build in Nigeria or have any plan in Nigeria.

They come home twice a year, lodge in hotel and charter unmarked taxi.

No worries about electricity, water, vehicle, omo onile, COFO, etc

In life one must have a plan. And a prayer.

This was my offense few years ago. I told a client his project in the village is such a huge waste of money.

The next thing was attack on Nairaland.

Today, I know a lot of us who built ‘Ile gogoro’ to impress others would have learnt one lesson or the other right now.

You can’t impress anyone.

What can man do that to adjust, and keep adjusting. I was born in Nigeria, grew up on the streets and still walking the streets, I may never own an intentional passport, talk less of travelling out of Nigeria in the next few years. The hardship in Nigeria has toughened us, to the extent that we might not cope if things ever get better, why? Because we are used to things working upside down. It's funny true.

No light - I switch on my battery powered appliances to play music or just read. (I hate generators)
No roads - The SUV or any car with a very high frame
No fuel - find a small car with good distance per litre of fuel
No security - Join the neighborhood security outfit and participate
High inflation - Buy in bulk and turn your house to a mini store.
No water - I dig a well or borehole.

We must survive in this country and even thrive here, whether they like it or not. We must keep doing the good work, and believing that our children will not suffer what we suffered.

I come once a year alone. Once in three years with family.
Bring in a naija favourite vehicle for sale after use (4weeks) during vacation.
Lodge in a friend's hotel (i buy my foodstuffs, they charge for cooking for me).
Supervise my 2kobo retirement home.
And return back to work.
Humility has always guaranteed me security.
Am not planning to relocate or settle in naija even during Pension. Just holidays.
I no want palava with myself or anyone!
9 inches blocks sold for about 1 naira 45 kobo in 1991.
Dollar sold for 6 and 7 naira in 1991.
What happened to us??

When the going gets tough, the tough gets going indeed.
Nigeria is a failed State, sadly her economic adversities are a product of high-level dynamic enterprise that cannot be manipulated by prophet or pseudo- technocrats.
Only war economies run by failed state that operate a “war economy” become a huge segment of the 160 million people has been disempowered.
There is also a legal vacuum and this has forced many Nigerians to adopt coping strategies of survival of the fittest.
It is illicit businesses that thrive because law and order are not enforceable in our land (apologies to the apostles of the rule of law).

Glad to know it came out nice.

What difference will the price be if it is made with iron steel bars and not wrought iron? The latter material is quite expensive.
good morning sir. The beauty of this work is wrought iron. Using normal pipes, 1.5mm pipe is #25,000 per meter. Thanks for your enquiry

There are bound to be exceptions. That’s why I said “most people”. Your calculations are enticing...until an investor buys a truck. Then stories go enter am.

/
Those wey stories enter are with friend & relative relationship. BHN, Chisco, GPC, TSL, Dangote, BUA, GIG, The Young, to mention few haulage & Logistics company in Nigeria, their fleet are brand new truck & cars every year in & out.

Many of the trucks branded in their name don't belong to them they are own by individual, there is no family or friends relationship in it, it will always succeed.

Presently, we shout Cement is high, but Dangote & other manufacturers said they did not increase costt of Cement, marketers actually did reason is logistics cost of truck repairs &. Maintenance is high they can not bear it any longer. Truck of ₦24m giving to distributors by Dangote to pay installment is now ₦35m, truck registration ₦70k now 95k, tyres of ₦65k now 90k. Truckers adjusted immediately things change,

Logistics is 1st consider in pricing of goods & services, Property such as real Estate in Nigeria change over years not with immediate situation, investing take over 10years or more before you recoup investment. I consider it a retirement investment.
