Seriously stop this hate this refinery has been in construction far before hope came in?

U people are acting very foolish, you are against an investment in Igbo land that will bring jobs to our people but u all run to other regions to beg for same job

It is high time Igbos start calling some of these guys to order before they rubbish everything.
I don't understand why any reasonable Igbo person will be against such massive investments in Imo State.

Our graduates always leave for Lagos, Abuja and P.H once they're done with NYSC because of dearth of white collar jobs but now that we are getting investments that will help create white collar jobs and boost the local economy through increased IGR and creation of value added industries that will be built to utilize raw materials coming from the petrochemical plant, some people are here saying trash.

Imo State used to be among the least industrialized states in Nigeria yet it was among the biggest in terms of GDP due to other sectors, now that massive oil and gas investments are coming into the state, the GDP will receive a boost.

It doesn't matter where the investors came from, whether from China, Saudi Arabia, North or wherever, it wouldn't stop Imo State from getting its statutory 13% derivation. Waltersmith even went ahead to bring an Igbo man to be the face of the company and run it. If they had ulterior motives, they wouldn't do that because it's not mandatory to use a local as the CEO. Check all over Niger Delta and see how everything is bastardized, with outsiders doing any how they like.

Ignorant ipob, there's a difference between 2020, 2021 and 2022.

For now, it's just a mini refinery with capacity to process meader 5,000 B/D.

Think and act like a grown man.

And why is your soul so damned about this news?
Are you cursed?

Why are you running all over the thread crying out your bitterness?
Why are you mourning over development in other people's house?

It is such a miserable existence you lead.

They are the owners of the company. So what do you expect?

Abdulrazaq Isa and Danjuma Saleh co-founded the company.

To be fair to them, their team and board of directors cut across the whole country and I really commend them for that.

The pressing question that needs an answer now is " Who are they fronting for?"

The costs of building a refinery and petrochemical plant no matter the capacity no be beans!

Easterners need to be empowered by the Federal government the same way these guys here were empowered! You don't stay in Aso rock and award oil and gas licenses only to your tribesmen and friends and expect everything to be ok. We have to be central players in the resources obtained in our land or nobody foisted by the fed should step in! Your anology is warped! And we don't need your silly 13 percent derivation! We need 100 percent derivation just as Buhari has allowed Zamfara to do with her solid minerals! Zamfara is taking all her gold! We're taking all our oil and gas. You don't like that? Jump out of the window..

They've been foaming in the mouth that we are doing attaché by force with SS because of oil but now there's a refinery in the heart of Igboland with capacity to refine 271 million liters of petroleum product per annum.

There's oil in Abia state.

There's oil in Anambra state.

Unconfirmed reports say there's oil in Nsukka. Maybe if the billions spent at Lake Chad basin looking for non-existent oil was spent in Nsukka, we would be drilling oil there too.

But it's worthy to educate zombies that Biafra, 'when' it comes, will not depend on oil as it's only commodity of foreign exchange.

Biafra will be a country of Technology, Services, Commerce and Manufacturing.

U are very correct. I'm Igbo, and honestly anything business and productivity is apt to the Igbos. What a true Igbo man detest is inequity and oppression. That refinery will be there for Dunkey years if there is no serious pollution and no exclusion of local content. Good structured businesses will always succeed in the east. But other investors coming from outside may not succeed due to hash competitive environment in the east. If that refinary starts and is profitable b4 u know other Igbo oil mogul will come and set another refinary in that region

The refinery, which is expected to primarily serve the South-Eastern part of the country, is expected to contribute about 271 million litres of refined products including Diesel, Naptha, HFO and Kerosene annually to the domestic market and create both direct and indirect jobs particularly within the host communities.
According to him, the crude processing plant is part of a bigger industrial energy park that will serve as a manufacturing base for oil and gas components.
“The project includes a 30-megawatt power station, which Waltersmith will expand to about 300 megawatts,” he added.

From what's written here, the refinery isn't producing a drop of petrol.

If true, this proves that the petrol subsidy is discouraging investments in its refining. Subsidy lovers anyway won't give a damn.
