The African continent with all it's human and natural resources is still backwards, despite advancement of the times. This is 2020, and the continent's population consists mostly of people between the ages of 18 and 35. But, nothing really favors them. Educational standards are still not up to par, unemployment figures are rising daily and sit-tight leaders are making things more difficult for young people. Surviving Africa as a young person, now depends on three things; 1. Take advantage of scholarship offers in sane countries. Travel, study and excel, so, you can build your career outside Africa. 2. As a fresh graduate, look out for graduate internships at organizations like KPMG, Oil & Gas companies, Banks and Multinational FMCGs. When you find their vacancy adverts, apply and study hard for the examinations, so you can be selected for a job, where you can start getting promoted. Age limit for graduate internships is usually 27. 3. Use your social media (especially LinkedIn & Twitter) wisely. Carry out advocacy campaigns in your field of expertise. Soon, you'll become a thought leader, and, this way, you're likely to land collaborative opportunities with established brands who have an interest in that field. Good luck! hakeem4: They are. The word you're looking for is consistency. Keep posting until you get the attention of the people that matter. If the information you provide is helpful and informative, people will take you seriously. It takes time to build a brand, but, it's worth it. 1 Like |
