Ordinary technician calling themselves an engineer. Correct engineer don't even use engineers.

You're right about engineers being designers. I'm a CAD designer myself though majority of the projects I've worked on are freelance for foreign clients. There are many good design engineers here but you may not know them because of the system

The country is the problem. I'm an engineering graduate, I work with a firm, and I know the kind of products we design and manufacture FROM SCRATCH and the kind of exceptional guys I work with.

Our main product line is prepaid meters but the government will tell you there are no meters. Even when they decide to buy, they buy a few and buy from others who import from the Chinese.

How is local content and local engineers encouraged? How will our economy grow?
How can you see the impact of engineers?

Innovative Research takes money and time. Our government and industry are not investing in those. Most of the technology of today are the product of decades of research building blocks.
There are millions of professors in western countries that spent their entire career in the lab doing research that amount to nothing and the next generation build on their research and finally someone come and add the pieces from different research efforts to build a product that did not function well and then other people perfect it and release it to the market.

My project was "a mobile based security patrol monitoring system" from which I derived desire to go into IP Camera, Networking & smart house and security systems. Engineers, design how work can be done and design is the backbone or any Engineering quality control while Technicians will implement engineer's design under the supervision of Engineer.
