Orji Uzor Kalu To Buy Arsenal - 35% Stake To Revive The Club - UK Reports by ogbiwa: 7:44am On Nov 20, 2020
Nigerian billionaire Orji Kalu wants to buy a huge stake in Arsenal and "bring trophies back" to the Emirates.

The 60-year-old is looking to purchase 35 per cent of the Gunners having made his fortune as a senator, businessman and newspaper owner.

Arsenal can no longer compete financially with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

And that has been a factor in their lack of success with their last Premier League title coming in 2004.

Since then trophies have been few and far between, but Kalu wants to change that.

He has previously helped a club dominate domestically having taken over Nigerian club Enyimba FC.

"Our success with Enyimba FC between 2000-07 has continuously increased my passion for football," said Kalu.

"As the pillar of sports in Africa, I am considering an investment in football and I will buy 35 per cent stake in Arsenal FC.

“Our target is to lift the Champions League and EPL, and valuable investment as well.

“Doing what you love and loving it is where greatness lies. I need 35 per cent of Arsenal to bring back trophies.”

Arsenal have a large following in Nigeria that started when they signed Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.

And Kalu, who was freed from a 12-year jail sentence upon appeal in May, wants to strike up a powerful partnership between the Gunners and Enyimba.

“With Arsenal we will make Enyimba great again with the strategic partnership we are packaging," he continued.

“We shall turn it around to create a platform for more of our professional players seeking international exposure.

For those of you asking why he does not buy Enyimba instead...some hard facts...

1.When a busienssman buys anything...it is because he wants it to make him a profit...or more money. That's why the Glazer family bought Man U and the Emiratis bought Man City. Had everything to do with more money, and nothing to do with football.

2.Arsenal is far more profitable than Enyimba. Tickets at Enymba for one game cost less than 2000 naira . Tickets at the Emirates cost 12000-38000 naira.A season ticket at Arsenal...cheapest rate, single adult , costs 455000 naira.

Plus Arsenal is in the Europa league....income from broadcast rights in the millons. Plus Arsenal is in Premier league...more millions comming in. Add sponsorships....

Does Enyimba have that? Can Enyimba boast of having qualifed for Confederations cup recently...or champions league caf style?

3. OUK is a businessman and buying a share in the Arsenal means quick return on investment. Enyimba on the other hand....just to throw away money . Unless he can increase ticket prices at Aba township stadium to N13000 per match.....

I for once will like to be seeing Arsenal revived from the pit-bottom they are been for so many years now.

Even though I doesn't think money will wake the coma team up. But instead of this politicians to revive Nigerian League, he is much interest in revive England League.

With my experience as a First classes graduation in English Languwage, I shall never be make these kind of mistake.

Buy 9ja to grow the naira. Maybe from 385/$ to 835/$.

I am wrong probably

He should have started with enyimba

Enyimba is state owned, and as such he cant do much, but it should be recalled that under his administration enyimba fc were doing very well.
