Just sit in your house if you don't have anything urgent outside. Lagos traffic is a nightmare.

It must be laziness that ensured you didn't read the post before commenting.

If you had, you would have realised that today's traffic jam is caused by the authorities.

When intelligent people like you cannot take a few minutes to understand a problem before dropping a solution that doesn't address the problem one then understands how stupid people are totally incapable of solving problems

Una just start....... cheesy

99.5% of commercial vehicles, on Lagos roads are not road worthy and human being worthy...... Scrap them all.....

65% of passenger vehicles are not road worthy and human being worthy........ Scrap them all....

90% of lorries, are not road worthy/human beings worthy....... Scrap them all.....

Do this for a start, and see massive decongestion....... grin

Unnecessary vehicles on the roads, destroys the infrastructure...... Get the excess load of the roads, when the road is decongested..........

Fix it for necessary commuter traffic to enjoy......... cheesy

You've closed one bridge already, even an imbêcile knows that the marathon should be postponed instead of closing yet another bridge to leave only one available

Welcome to Nigeria, a country where the people are averse to using their brains

Let's keep on groaning, until we turn to animals. It's human beings that put us in this position. And it's the same human beings that would get us out. So if we don't come together to find a solution to our problems,we would complain until the world ends. I for one am tired of hearing complaints, it grates my ears. Complaining has become an oral tradition. Our parents have been complaining into our ears since the time we were born. Now we've picked up the megaphone and are complaining too. It's just sad angry

Then again those complaining about the traffic, weren't they informed before hand about the closed roads?

Many of them probably don't follow the media channels on which the announcement was made.

naptu2:
One of my American friends was complaining about something in the early 1990s and I thought that I understood what he was complaining about, but I didn't. Now I totally understand what he was complaining about.

His complaint was that there were too many TV stations in the US and that was creating "many Americas". He said that people usually watched the same channels when he was younger and that helped to create a cohesive society, but that now (early 1990s) most people do not watch the same channels.

Well this is quite true in Nigeria today. How?

Take this coronavirus issue as an example. Professor Akin Abayomi has been giving regular updates about the crisis and journalists have questioned him regularly, yet you see too many people (the masses) asking questions that have already been answered. Why? I'll tell you why.

These people that are asking these questions would have seen the answers if this was the 1980s, because those answers have been shown on the NTA and LTV and they've also been transmitted on Radio Nigeria and Radio Lagos. Unfortunately today, too many people depend on blogs like Linda Ikeji Blog and Instablog for their news. These outlets do not provide proper news. They only report sensational stories. So a lot of very important information is not carried by these outlets.

I often hear people say, why wasn't this publicised (for example, why wasn't the cashless policy on the bridge publicised)? and I wonder if they've been living under a rock. These things have usually been publicised for months in advance, but these people do not follow channels that provide important information about Nigeria.

I remember something that happened a very long time ago. I woke up very early in the morning and tuned the Hi-Fi system to the BBC. This was during a major international crisis and I was listening to the 6am News Hour while doing my morning chores. My dad was on the porch, watching the sunrise.

Then came 7am and the BBC pips and my dad shouted from the porch, "Will you tune that radio to Radio Nigeria! How can you be in a place and not know what's going on in that place!"

He was quite right. How can you be in a place and not know what's going on in that place? I tuned the radio to Radio Nigeria for the 7am news.

This is why I was shocked when satellite TV arrived in the 1980s and some of my friends boasted that they "do not watch Nigerian channels". What the hell does that mean??

Lagos traffic is a hell to witness, sometimes, the traffic is caused by nothing but irresponsible drivers with stubborn attitude of wanting to go first.

Lagos traffic is always terrible, no day that passes without traffic jam. it's one of those spice that made lagos.

another one again is the lagos-Ibadan expressway, Julius Berger have sworn with FG never to finish that road and they keep blocking every part of it.

anyone who works in lagos and lived up to 80years will live beyond 100years in Delta State or Enugu State.

Lagos state will be acting advance and sophisticated...but 98% of the time they will announce road closures a day or 2 before the event and its usually on Twitter or Facebook

In some sane places, they put the notice on the route several weeks ahead!!!

What's the benefit of a marathon during this pandemic

There have been massive traffic jams this morning as Lagosians suffer the effects of multiple road closures in the city.
TD Jakes Sermons
Two of the three major bridges that connect the Island to the Mainland have been closed this morning. The Third Mainland Bridge is partially closed for repair works, the Eko Bridge has been closed because of the Lagos Women's Run and this has left Lagosians with the Carter Bridge as the only route to get from the Island to the Mainland.

To make matters worse, several roads on the Mainland have also been closed because of the railway modernisation programme.

The situation is also made worse by the absence of security and traffic officers on many streets in the metropolis since the End SARS riots.

Lagosians have taken to Twitter to complain about what they are suffering this morning.

Except we want to make bogus expectations, let's put infrastructural developments towards promoting Agricultural developments, what can lagos gain from its already existing infrastructures to achieve success in those 5 or 6 points.
