Twenty-six-year-old Benjamin had prepared himself and spent five days fasting and praying to secure a student visa at the United States’ embassy. https://punchng.com/visa-seeking-nigerian-students-lament-sad-experiences-at-us-embassy/ 7 Likes 1 Share

Lengthy but informative and good read. I blame Us. I mean we Nigerians. Quality education abound worldwide, not limited to USA alone. 86 Likes 6 Shares |

You mean Buhari who lost about 118 soldiers in one single day!! Oga that man is incapable and grossly incompetent to address the issue of exploitation of Nigerians by different foreign embassies.... 38 Likes 3 Shares |

Trump's policy: Take their money. Reject the visa applications. If Nigeria is a better country, who will think of going to USA. 78 Likes 10 Shares |

I said this long time ago, that a time ll come when even with your money no country ll accept Nigerians. But be hopeful for after that era we shall be purged of our iniquities and thus be purified, however only the strong will make it through. Though it tarry wait for it, it shall surely come, it ll not tarry. 46 Likes 5 Shares |

lololol eyah people like us that will never know this kind of struggle you people should not vex abeg, na trump cause am. stay home and make naija great again but on a more serious note, they are extremely strict regarding allocating visas and I think it's only when they are convinced without a shadow of doubt that you won't violate your stay in the US would they allow you to go. Like the first student, she should have waited before she got an admission letter from the school and paid acceptance fees before she applied for the visa because showing application form alone is not enough reason for them to grant you a visa. If they notice the slightest discrepancy or error or have the slightest suspicion about you, they'd give you a big, fat denial. 13 Likes |

Apart from indiscriminate Visa Denials, the treatment of Nigerians at the embassy is nothing to write home about. You are made to stand on queue right from when you get to the embassy till you are in front of a consular officer. The number of checkpoints in that embassy is more than the road block on a typical Nigerian expressway. They will ask you to remove your belt, wristwatches, smartphone, pen just whatever is on you apart from your clothings. This isn't different from the treatment you get when an arrested criminal is about being moved from a police station counter into a cell. Then you meet the consular officer who simply happily dashes you the blue paper. 40 Likes 2 Shares |

I can imagine the disappointment. My younger sister went for her interview at the US embassy in Lagos on the 31st of October, her first time and she got her 2 year visa and left for New York a week ago. While the US embassy in Kenya grants Kenyans 5 year US visa! 12 Likes |

Not just students. Visa for single entry for conferences gets denied. It’s a serious situation really considering the time and resource one puts into application. 2 Likes |

the truth is most nugerian students hoping to study ok no USA aren't well prepared for the interviews....also, American Embassy now scrutinize Nigerians more than ever cos most Nigerians got ulterior motives..thus the refusal..this have affected the genuine students American Embassy expect visa applicants to be smart, outspoken and intelligent in answering questions 7 Likes |

Remote Internship in International Development International development is a very broad sector encompassing a huge range of organizations and job roles. Entry-level applicants need to be proactive, determined and flexible. You do not necessarily need to have a Master's degree in development to 'do development'. Most employers will look for at least six months and up to two years experience. This is so you can demonstrate practical knowledge of the sector. Be aware that getting opportunities 'in the field' can be difficult for new graduates especially those without prior experience and internship positions in this sector are very limited and difficult to secure. Dataville Research LLC's remote internship programme provides you tailored training, guidance and real responsibility from the beginning, quickly preparing you for entry-level positions in the international development sector. At the end of this 3-month programme, participants should have a grasp of the rudiments of international development, data collection and management in development research and programme implementation. The main target audience for this internship is international development prospects who will be directly implementing and evaluating programmes. Because of this, we generally stay away from very theoretical and academic content and opinion pieces that discuss problems without providing any practical solutions. A strong emphasis is placed on experiential learning, meaning that interns will be learning through the implementation of key phases of work in this internship. I feel no pity for them. All Nigerians know here is to calling each other afonja and biafra pigs.....fools. yall will perish like together like fools of you do not see that you are all in the same sinking ship We must leave our differences and strive together and build our nation. Running out of Nigeria is not the way to build a nation. If we don't start now one day there will no country to return to 24 Likes 1 Share |
