Punishing CNN is not the problem but how? How do you punish CNN? By blocking their frequency on both terrestrial and normal bandwidth? Going a bit further and blocking their website from internet in Nigeria? Exactly how do you plan on meting out this punishment and make Nigeria still come across as an openly democratic country? Keep in mind that propaganda is very costly to the government but extremely cheap.to CNN.
The only way to punish CNN is for all involved to prove beyond reasonable doubt to the world that there was no killing at Lekki, thereby making CNN reports and position ridiculously stupid. Inconsistencies on the part of the Nigerian Army and Lagos State Governor is not helping right now. Let's clean our stable first before pointing out how dirty others are.

They can be banned from nigeria, which translates to no more advert patronage from Nigerians businesses plus loss of over 100million viewers.

What about business agreement signed by cable companies transmitting CNN in Nigeria? International Industrial court law suit loading. Do you think 100 million out of over 7 billion people around the world is that substantial? Nigerians advertising on CNN do not have Nigerians as the target market in the first instance, they are looking to come across as global brands. If Nigerians are the target, then Big Brother and Supersport on DSTV are better platforms.

The only way to punish CNN, I repeat, is to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that no soul was lost via the bullets of the army or police at Lekki on 20th of October, 2020. Can we do that?
Inconsistent statements from the army present at the scene, inconsistent statements from the Lagos State Governor/Government and unnecessary hostility and grandstanding by government officials are making that extremely difficult.
