I watched arisetv last night where this news was aired, according to the eye witness one etim iwara, he said they were hailing femi gbaja when he passed by cos they have known him ever since he came to Abuja, so he told one of his aides to give dem money, the aid came down n gave them money the next thing the security attache also alighted from the vehicle and shot the vendor twice. This was done without provocation or any sort. And also the security personnel is that of Dss and not police.
There is something behind this, either the dss man has beef with the vendor or something must have cause this.

I believe the security agent was already arrested since the incident and before the media notice.

The media notice only came about because the family was trying to tie the incident to the politician. So the media story was not about the sad incident, but that the politician did not come to visit or reach out to the family, hence the news we all heard about.

How is the action of a police man during his private time in a beer parlour, the responsibility of the politician he is assigned to?

Abike Dabiri doesn't need to do anything as long as the matter is already being prosecuted. She doesn't have to own a beer parlour murder that did not involve her in anyway.

The family should rather follow up with the police force who employed the officer, and who are responsible for his gun and his overall discipline even when off duty.

Gbajabiamila's matter is different because the incident happened while the security agent was working for him in official capacity as part of his convoy.

That is the issue that is mind boggling, but not surprising when you realize that Nigerian security forces are all brawn but no brain.

No one has denied that the Speaker did not willingly stop to interact as it has become his custom to do.

Someone here has made a valid point that the Speaker had promised not to pass the 2021 budget if all the families of police brutality victims are not compensated.

This incident might be an attempt to give the Speaker bad publicity on a similar issue, so he can backtrack and become loyal to forces that are willing to kill to ensure total loyalty.

I saw the convoy yesterday. So it was even the speaker that was in those cars. I'm happy he saw how kwata is, but I'm sure he won't bother about the environment. Though he has a good heart by going to condole with the family of the vendor

Oga, he did not shoot the man. He was not even in the same car with the shooter. The shooter is either an employee of the DSS or police ie a civil servant and not employed by Mr Speaker.

There was actually a gathering of persons which halted movement on the road the speaker was on, that prompted the security detail to shoot in the air in a bid to disperse the gathering and allow free flow of traffic. You Know how overzealous our security operatives can be. That narrative has not changed.

Unfortunately the vendor is dead and nothing will bring him back, not that i support whatever happened, infact i condemn in its entirety but if you ask me honestly i think the speaker has handled it the right way. Kudos to him.
