Its not about exiting recession. Recession is an academic construct, defined by mathematical formula that does not mean much to the average Nigerian because their is no linkage.

What interests Nigerians is how the economy improves to the extent that infrastructure improves, jobs are created and people have more money to spend and their quality of life improves.

Congrats!

We haven't forgotten that it was under their watch that the economy went into recession twice now.

It's like your driver crashing your car, then with an idiotic smile, tells you he will repair it soon!

No time frame, o! Soon!

Re: Zainab Ahmed: Nigeria Will Exit Recession Soon by colizee(m): 6:54pm On Nov 23, 2020
Obviously (thanks to the increasing price of oil)...the Nigerian economy has never been good. We are just using oil money to manage the economy. That's why anytime price of oil goes down our economy go follow.

Imagine if this country never had oil undecided

Footnote totally needless .One should be able to speak forthrightly irrespective of party affiliation.
ThierryJay:
Well, the economic indices at the moment actually lend support to what the finance minister said.

The main driver is that somehow and despite all the much publicized negatives, there are still a lot of ongoing economic activities that are stimulating spending (especially in the fmcg and IT/telecomms/fintech sectors). The implementation of the finance act 2020 should further strengthen this course by stimulating more spending within the economy e.g lower duties on cars, lower minimum tax rate, exemption of small companies from income tax and VAT.

Also, more Nigerian diasporans are remitting monies to their people here in lieu of coming home for the holidays.

So I am optimistic that we should indeed exit the recession statistically by first quarter in 2021.

The big question now is the Nigerian riddle ie what goes up may never come down. I fear that even if the parameters such as transportation costs, forex and supply chain logistics improve, the current high price levels might never return to their pre-covid status.

Note: I am not pro-any political party.
