Actually, Uzoho made no spectacular saves in that match, only about 2-3 decent saves. If I'm wrong, point out a spectacular save for me so I can remember.

Rewatch the highlights and get back to me. BTW, even by your logic, 3 decent saves against Brazil can differentiate losing 4-1 to 1-1

Amnesia!!! Francis uzoho was in remarkable form in his last two int'l games for niaja prior to his injury. He was the no1 of the national team. It will be unfair to him if he dropped. MADUKA HAS NOT DONE BETTER THAN UZOHO.

I don't think our squad is over rated. Can we battle it out with footballing giants like brazil, france, belgium and the likes? The answer is a resounding NO!. But in the context of african football we can be considered a power house and i do not see that as overating. Check out our last int'l game roster. Our top striker plys his trade for one of the top side in italy, our back up (onuachu) is the top goal scorer in belgium. We have got full backs playing in porto, fulham, twente and paderbone (this pool is bad if you ask me). We've gat wingers playing for villareal, nantes, cska. We have cb playing for hoffenham, rangers, watford . Comon in the context of african fotie this team is not bad. This team should be able to go toe to toe to against some european teams. THIS TEAM IS NOT OVERATED. with better coaching the pool can achieve something great!

Nigeria got lucky against Algeria in Uyo. Without some unforgivable finishes Algeria would have beat us 5-3.

Zambia is a country that we will always be expected to beat. Plus that was right when they were about to make their transition into fashion sakala and the rest of their U20 boys. I know, but go and look at Algeria and Senegal squad too. Tunisia as well. Leave those that have not come yet, those teams are also good too, apart from that 4-4 game and the lack luster Algeria game, we have played well. That we have some decent players does not mean that we have turned to Portugal or France.

You're calling uzoho, Uzoho's case is even more controversial. Ezenwa was our keeper when ikeme retired, he kept throughout the qualifiers and did well, when uzoho started playing in Europe, Rohr benched Ezenwa straightaway, there was no struggle whatsoever. Ezenwa only played when there was a friendly in the same window with qualifiers. Like against Zimbabwe. Uzoho kept during the world cup on the hardwork of Ezenwa.

Osimhen was not yet performing during the world cup and afcon. His 20 goals for Charleroi was in the space of two seasons. Osimhen only picked up in July 2019 after afcon when he signed for lille. He displaced Onuachu who was second to ighalo then.

Maduka is our best keeper currently, he does not need to fight for anything, when his club performance drops, a keeper in form will take over. That's how Rohr does. When uzoho lost form big time before afcon, Rohr relegated him to third choice.

As for ndidi, we are saying the same thing, same with sanusi. When you are currently the best, you don't fight with anyone for the position. Same way omeruo benched balogun during afcon and now balogun has come back to bench him again. Dem no dey do fight for shirt in national team, matches no plenty for gambling. Your club performance will determine it. Maduka had already played first team football before starting in Algeria game. Me and you know that the Brazil match was a rare accidental chance for him.

Let me set the record straight. The NPFL does not keep places for national team players. This stopped when Warri wolves ran into trouble with a backup who refused to keep because Akpeyi would just come back and take his place even after numerous clean sheets.

Since then no NPFL keeper has left and come back to a spot. Even Emmanuel Daniel our former U23 keeper had to come back from the Olympics to watch Nana Bonsu take Enugu to the league title.


The fact is there are so many talented keepers in our league just missing one or 2 things but on their day most of them are top class.

That said, Akpeyi is the best keeper we have as of now.
