Olulong: So if we what to beat are we not expected to beat the best??. Ivory Coast were better than us at the 2013 Afcon, didn't we beat them.
And the same Algeria you're talking about are weaker than they were(talent/player wise) when we beat them in 2016. Buh good coaching has made them a way better team than they were then.
Just to remind you they came into the AFCON ranked 68, 23 places below us in the FIFA Ranking.Fast forward to over a year they've beaten us twice and are now ranked above us that's what good coaching can do.
Their starting 11 that beat us had 3 players playing in the middle east, one in esperance, One at Nottingham Forest and another for relegated Italian side empoli. So on the basis of player quality going to that match we were balanced but we both know what they did to us.
You don't need messi and ronaldo to win AFCON. I'll say this anywhere we have a good enough squad to win the AFCON. We beat Ivory Coast with Mba,Oboabona,Relatively unknown Omeruo and Onazi. So all this they're better than us is just a flimsy excuse trying to justify an incompetent coach Fact not feelings |

JohnBullMySon: world class coach may change nothing. This is national team not club where a world class manager comes and starts buying good players. In the NT you are only as good as your players are. You only do a little amount to change things. I hope Rohr goes soon so that we can see how average we are. The way people are talking, you will think that we have won the world cup before. So because we're average it justifies losing to Madagascar and Bottling a four lead against Sierra Leone or going winless in a calendar year, doesn't it?? |

12large1: very invalid/Inaccurate Statement. Pound for pound, Algeria Don't have a better Squad than Us but their present Coach made a huge difference at them winning ANC. Pound for Pound, Senegal has the strongest 11 but not the strongest Team.
Top 4 most talented11 (pound for pound) now in africa (my opinion) and based on market value 1) Senegal 2) nigeria 3) ivory coast 4) Algeria
Best Team currently in Africa
1) Algeria 2) Senegal 3) Nigeria 4) Tunisia
A great Tactician can make a big difference from Semi final and winning ANC. You can't keep saying "you have a young team" indirectly conceding defeat anytime you come across a strong opponent and expect to WIN I gave up on the man after watching his interview before the second leg against Sierra Leone. Imagine him saying in his one words " our players don't have the mentality for a game like this" A couple of this guys play in the Europa League, a few in UEL, yet they don't have the mentality to face ALMIGHTY SIERRA LEONE |

jihday: He didn't, he was given the number 1 He was not given as he fought for it with Ezenwa and akpeyi I can remember akpeyi doing nonsense in the argentine friendly at first half and uzoho got his chance at second half No matter how you guys try to twist it Maduka didn’t fight for his shirt ,he was dashed the shirt by gernot rohr |

JohnBullMySon: maduka is also in good form himself. The thing is that players always get dropped suddenly from their spots. It did not start with uzoho. Maduka himself will be dropped if a better in form keeper comes or if uzoho is performimg better at club side. Wow Please explain a goalkeeper with good form ? |

i'm surprised you left out Morocco. pound for pound Senegal, Morocco and Algeria are ahead of us. Ivory Coast is roughly on the same talent level as us with Mali and Ghana not far behind 12large1: Bro, pound for Pound, Algeria and Tunisia dosen't have a better pool of talented 11 than Us. Most talented 11 pound for pound on paper in Africa
1) Senegal 2) Nigeria 3) Algeria/Ivory coast
Best team in Africa right now 1) Algeria 2) Senegal 3) Nigeria
A Good coach can make a huge difference from 3rd to 1st place |

He knew how poor our squad during Rodgers last season with the club was..Then Klopp came in and took that same squad to two cup finals.. But he is here defending Rohr... Smh! |

Haba Basco you are better than this na! how can you say we were lucky against Algeria in Uyo so the 3 goals we scored were a fluke? Algeria like any top side came at us and we neutralized them and scored? how is that luck? So should we now use that logic to disparage Keshi for winning AFCON and getting to 2nd round of WC? after all in AFCON we were lucky against Ethiopia, In the WC we were lucky Dzeko's goal against us was wrongly ruled out as offside and ours wasn't called a foul. Amodu too was lucky Ghana beat Liberia away for 2002, was lucky Mozambique beat Tunisia at home for 2010, for AFCON 2010 we were also lucky Zambia didn't beat us in the quarterfinal after dominating us throughout the match. so all the local coaches that you mentioned also had slices of good fortune but we don't use that to downgrade their achievements BascoVanVeli: Nigeria got lucky against Algeria in Uyo. Without some unforgivable finishes Algeria would have beat us 5-3.
Zambia is a country that we will always be expected to beat. Plus that was right when they were about to make their transition into fashion sakala and the rest of their U20 boys. We just caught them at the right time. U can see how hard it was for us in the second leg, they even scored a clean goal that was cancelled.
Beating Cameroon never has anything to do with tactics on the day. It is a match fueled by passion and history.
Once the WCQ was over what did we see? Rohr has been exposed over and over again as in over his head but people are still defending him to my amazement. This man was out coached and out witted by a Sierra Leonian home and away. |

feelme2020: I may be wrong but the Onuachu i see for the super eagles cannot do anything with the ball at his feet. If you give him a pass, he cannot pass back and make a one two. If you remember Iwobi's goal against Cameroon, he passed to Ighalo and ighalo passed back to him and then he scored. If it is Onuachu he will not pass back and will simply loose the ball. His ball passing and progression is very poor. Maybe it is different at his club. I dont think he can shoot accurately in the box 18 or convert low crosses. He is not also mobile and aggresive as in he does not press and his speed is not exceptional. Apart from air balls, what other strenghts does he have If I was onuachu ..even if I get a super eagles invite again,I won't come. |

12large1: it isn't the same. Infact, Akpeyi should slap himself for allowing a 19 year old to grab that shirt in uzoho absence. Remember that Nigerians wanted Akpeyi out of SE before and after ANC due to his unstababiblity. Although, I think akpeyi did OK at ANC and o wouldn't blame him for that Algeria loss but Okoye seem more comfortable than him For SE. For me, when everyone is fit and Available 1) Uzoho 2) Okoye 3) Akpeyi/osigwe/Yakubu *Rohr doesn't like short goalies* thats why yakubu hasn't been given a chance but he looks impressive on youtube If he doesn't like short goalies ..then why invite one? |

Morocco has Ziyech and Hakimi. Their number 1 GK plays for Sevilla. Senegal has 2 GK that play for top clubs in france and england. Koulibaly is better than every defender we have at the moment. Sadio Mane is better than all the forwards we have. Algeria has a solid GK plays in france. Mahrez better than any winger we have at the moment. Bennacer that plays for AC Milan better than any CM we currently parade. All this i've mentioned of the top of my mind so please enlighten me how are they not ahead of us? fabyom: Please how are Senegal, Morrocco, and Algeria ahead of us.
