When has light been stable in Nigeria even before the grid collapsed?

We haven't had light for more than 20hrs in the last 30 days, so this grid they're talking about I'm sure it didn't collapse today. I know how light used to be in my area then, but now it's nothing to write home about. Rubbish people undecided undecided

After years of audio investment in the power sector, we still produce less than 5000 megawatts of electricity. Nigeria is beyond repair.

Sometimes I don’t how Nigerian leaders govern Nigeria. What is so hard about generating electricity

Like what can possibly be so hard about building and generating electricity in 2020

Same
Year where some are already thinking of going to Mars for vacation and coming back and using electricity there of course

If I was Nigerian president for a month, all you have to do is send a team to counties who have built a POWER PLANT ( GAS, TURBINE )

There are many countries on this planet that have numerous power plants who have been generating electricity for more than 200 years

Send a team to them , tell them you want to build a power plant

Send 10 teams to 10 different countries, give them a blank cheque on the condition that is is completed by each team before a due date

Problem solved within 10 months you can have 10 power plants built by 10 different counties or teams

Infact they can all put thier flag there self who cares, connect all the 10 new built power stations at once to the national grid, of it
Overloads so be it

Surely this would solve Nigerian 60
Years old problem within 6 months

Why is it so difficult for the so called and powerful and probably the richest country in Africa to build and generate its own electricity
Like forget bad roads, bad schools, I’ll quiped hospitals, those ones would take so much effort to fix

Power supply is that one I think can even be fixed in 4 weeks more less 6 months

Why waste time and so much resources not being able to satisfy the demand for power within the country like its such a basic and easy thing to do.

Like it’s so obvious what to do

Just look at this headline in 2020 and when foreigners see this headline you wonder why they don't respect you guys ?

Kenyans and South Africans will have a field day on twitter today with this news
Jonathan that privatized the so called sector does not have electricity in his village, not to talk of his state, so who are you purporting to blame, the person that created it, or the person that inherited it?

16 years of failure and failure failure.
$16 Billion used on electricity by d thieves u support with nothing to show for it. Shame on all of una

Bro that narrative has been overflogged. We are 5yrs into the APC administration and in the second term and things have gone from bad to worse virtually everywhere. The only improvement for me since APC came into power has been in the railway sector.

Talking as an Electrical engineer, be informed that there are two major type of electricity distribution.
1. Radial Electrical Power Distribution System

In the early days of electrical power distribution system, different feeders radially came out from the substation and connected to the primary of distribution transformer.

But radial electrical power distribution system has one major drawback that in case of any feeder failure, the associated consumers would not get any power as there was no alternative path to feed the transformer. In case of transformer failure also, the power supply is interrupted. In other words, the consumer in the radial electrical distribution system would be in darkness until the feeder or transformer was rectified.

2. Ring Main Electrical Power Distribution System
The drawback of a radial electrical power distribution system can be overcome by introducing a ring main electrical power distribution system. In this topology, one ring network of distributors is fed by more than one feeder. In this case, if one feeder is under fault or maintenance, the ring distributor is still energized by other feeders connected to it. In this way, the supply to the consumers is not affected even when any feeder becomes out of service.

In addition to that, the ring main system is also provided with different section isolates at different suitable points. If any fault occurs on any section, of the ring, this section can easily be isolated by opening the associated section isolators on both sides of the faulty zone transformer directly.

In this way, supply to the consumers connected to the healthy zone of the ring can easily be maintained even when one section of the ring is under the shutdown.

I'm saying all this cos if they want to fix power issue once and for all, they will do it. But corruption and bad decisions will not allow. Imagine appointing a lawyer in 2015 as minister for Power. Anyway that is their business, below is my business

some Distribution companies still have reserve of power wheeled to them by TCN before the grid collaspe, hence they still have power to distribute to customers, i pray the grid is brought up immediately.

By the way government is not serious at all in ending power outages in this country, imagine, we are still running National Grid in this 21st century, instead of each state to have its own power utility company that will serve only the state.

imagine all the 36 states generating, and distributing electricity within the state, won't power outages be a thing of the past in Nigeria?... Abia generate your electricity and distribute to Abia residents alone, imo will do same, all states will do same.. things will change!.

One thing with black people is that, we know how to solve our problem, but instead of doing that.. we decide to play Dirty and outdated politics with it
