Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Monday said many state governors in Nigeria are currently frustrated and helpless over the insecurity challenges in the country.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television programme ‘Politics Today’, El-Rufai, who also lamented the insecurity challenges in Kaduna state said as governor, he and other governors have no control over the Commissioners of Police in their states even though they are addressed as Chief Security Officers.

“We are all frustrated. I am frustrated in my state, many governors are frustrated in their states. We are called Chief Security Officers only in name, we have no control over the coercive instrument of the state. We are all frustrated.
“We are almost helpless. The #EndSARS protest clearly showed the limit of the control of the governors over the police and the army. Some of us have more influence than others but to a large extent, you ask the Commissioner of Police to do something, he has to clear with the IGP This is the reality.

“I don’t determine who get posted to my state as Commissioner of Police and if I give him directive, he can decide to flout the directive,” he said.

I don't trust this man, the way this Fulani guys invade places it's so appalling. They enter a local government do what they want to do and at the end no police or soldier would come, there's something fishy. No doubt!!!

These governors are never tired of collecting the security votes & enjoying the perks of the office but are always quick in giving excuses.El Rufai please do as you once suggested to the former president.

This man should keep quiet

Despite all the attempts to derail his administration, Buhari's support remains over the roof, intimidating, loyal and steadfast. Buharinomics should be studied as a political course after 2023.
