Goodmarlian:trust me, the Yorubas under Awolowo and Action group were fighting for the FCT to move away from Lagos, Awolowo and AG were ready to finance the development of the new FCT but your oloriburuku (that will continue to rot in hell) Azikiwe kick against, Awolowo threatened the British with a new country if the FCT remains in Lagos... Azikiwe advised the British to jail Awolowo if the continues to advocate for new FCT, he called Lagos 'a no man's land". Awolowo was tamed by the British.. movement of FCT from Lagos was a dream come through, don't get it twisted. probably one of the happiest day in SW. 5 Likes |

Aconomist: Presently, how many percent of the oil revenue is accrued to the North? If u give them 50% oil revenue; What about the revenue they get from the seaports? What about the VAT they enjoy from ur consumption of alcoholic drinks? What about the access the herdsmen have over ur lush vegetation? It would take more than 50% of oil resources to convince the North to leave her bride (the South). 1 Like |

Goodmarlian: The Navy is the least abokinized force for two reasons 1. Aboki can't swim . You drown in knee deep waters 2. Being a navy commander of a vessel is not by quota system you must know everything about navigating a ship, maintaining the engines and crew and have an indept understanding of maritime law and be a strategic naval war dog. A naval ship is both a barracks, a war platform and a diplomatic emmisary . Abokis can not make the cut. Only time you see abokis in the Navy they are on finance or adminstration and not one single aboki is allowed to command the smallest naval speed boat. 4 Likes |

Goodmarlian:The border with benin is deep in Yoruba territory. And I previously said, no Hasua army can penetrate that deep. This is the same army that is getting slaughtered by Boko Haram on a daily basis -- what makes you think they can penetrate over 500 miles into the most densely populated land in Africa? You seem to operate out of fear, which is why people like you make such good slaves. Dumb fearful animal. Men like you run away from Fulani herdsmen instead of fighting back. 7 Likes 1 Share |

ProT:50% may be more than their current allocation considering the fact that oil rich states in the south get larger allocations. Also, splitting the country would dramatically simplify the North's administration systems, leading to cost savings and massive benefits for them. They could also export their agricultural goods to the south for foreign exchange. Trust me, they will love the new arrangement. Free oil money on one side and agro exports on the other. 1 Like |

Re: As A Southerner, I'm Ready To Give The North 50% Of The Oil To Split Nigeria by BastardWike: 3:12pm On Dec 01, 2020 |
Aconomist: In the event of a full blown war between North and South, the only way the South will win is if they can hold their territory within the first 6 months of fighting. Mind you, South won't just be fighting against North but the entire Sahel region of Africa that includes Niger, Chad and Mali. During the Biafran war, Chadians and Nigerians flooded into Nigeria and fought on their federal government side. Secondly, the world over, any side that controls the government apparatus already has a huge advantage because the other side will be regarded as rebels fighting a central government. Also, their can only be a guerilla warfare against the North/Federal government since we no longer have regions like in the first republic. Now this even makes it worse for South because the North will use its control of the government to launch direct attacks or airstrikes in the South while South can't do so against the North. Lastly, the weak point of the South will always be the SW. Their Muslims will easily sabotage their efforts and make it possible for Northerners to penetrate. So, I wouldn't advocate war as a means of breaking Nigeria because it will take up to five years for any side to beat the other into submission and before it gets to that, up to 5 million people would be dead already and the economy would be wiped out. 1 Like |

Hilarious,.. u want to split the oil, what stake do u have in nnpc, government, oil companies and the likes? Wake Up dude The truth is ... Nigeria won't split... Not in a foreseeable time The World is moving away from oil... For someone who stays in America and still holds oil in high value, I should say ur reasoning is very low... The easiest thing to achieve now is restructure... And the best way to do this is through the legislature... Its because we have so many educated illiterates that's why we think the executive can restructure.. its not their power... If the Southern legislators can move a bill for restructuring and lobby the North Central legislators to join them, restructuring is sure...The core North will have no chance... Finally there is no way the Niger Delta(if they want to.leave) will give the North 50% of some resources... I don't know the circumstances of the South Sudan case but for the Niger Delta to agree to such stupid idea that u are advocating, they must have some undue advantage over us with their own resources Las Las all this Una talk go end for nairaland as one of the regularly forgotten threads Finito 2 Likes |

Aconomist: Bro you are not different from me we both see things the same way, only war can break Nigeria since restructuring and peaceful separation will not work, but if we choose war what advantage does the south have over the north? We are minority in the army,we don't have political power the country has being rigged to favour the north by the British,we know war is the only war out but are we southerners United and ready for it? A big No,one way or the other we shall pick the last option one day.. |
Re: As A Southerner, I'm Ready To Give The North 50% Of The Oil To Split Nigeria by gidgiddy: 3:32pm On Dec 01, 2020 |
Aconomist: The North will never agree for Nigeria to split based on sharing the oil revenue 50/50. The reason is because the North knows that if Nigeria is split, it will give the South the right to build uo its own military force. After the South has organised its own military force, how long do you think it will be before the South starts wondering why it is paying another country 50% of its Oil profits for nothing? Not very long 7 Likes |

Lagos has a GDP per capita of over $5,000 according to the Financial Times of London. This number is only $1,000 less than South Africa, and it implies that Lagos could reach developed nation status ($10,000 per capita) in less than 10 years assuming an annual growth rate of 7.5% and a stable population. Separation from Nigeria would encourage massive foreign direct investment into Lagos that is currently being scared away by Fulani herdsmen, islamic terrorism and instability. Take for example Facebook, which plans to open its Africa headquarters in Lagos in 2021. This investment will provide ultra-high paying software engineering jobs to Nigerian youths. But the Facebook deal is at risk because of "Northern governors" who want to introduce a so-called "social media bill" to destroy free speech. Fulani-Nigeria also imposes a forex burden on Lagos, making it harder for businesses to obtain the dollars they need to smoothly run operations. Lagos would be much stronger with its own currency not being dragged down by excessive consumption and low productivity in the North. The dangote refinery alone would provide enough forex earnings to keep the Lagos currency strong and stable. The lagos economy is strong enough to wean itself off of Federal Government allocations. The introduction of mobile money along with effective income tax and massive property tax to bring down land values would allow the Lagos government to raise tax collection up to 30% of GDP (the global standard) compared to 5% of GDP in Nigeria. This revenue would allow the Lagos government to invest in infrastructure and 24/7 electricity to allow the city to achieve that 7% annual GDP growth rate that would take it to first world status within our lifetimes. 1 Like |

Aconomist: Lol, if we are monkeys then you're certainly a baboon Don't get it twisted, it is my wish for this disgraceful contraption to be broken up and save the entire Black race a reoccurring embarrassment. However, I don't allow wishful thinking or sentiments to override logical reasoning. Going into war based on emotions and sentiment is suicidal. Biafra did exactly that between 1967-70 and suffered massive losses for it. If only Igbos and Yorubas have unity of purpose, South's problem would have reduced by half but we don't have a rallying ground. The North has Islam and Hausa language as rallying point. If we go to war against North, are we going to confront them as one entity or as three regions? South had a golden opportunity to break free in 1967 but other Southerners developed cold feet out of fear when the Igbos made a very bold and courageous move despite the odds that was stacked against them. The consequences of Nigeria breaking up through war would be too devastating as an option to be considered. Nigeria can still be easily broken up if Southern politicians are passionate about it. If Southern leaders should gather with one voice, lobby the White House and also get in touch with UN on the need to break up Nigeria, pressure would be mounted on the North to accept balkanization and they would have no option than to accept it. 2 Likes |

Aconomist: Bro don't get me wrong, I like your plans, but how would the initial countries survive? Everytime I hear Biafra/Oduduwa/Niger Delta Republic, this is the first question that comes to mind. Everyone knows that sustaining countries isn't easy, and on top of that there would very likely be a massive influx of refugees from the Northern countries. I personally think the problem with Nigeria is a mismanagement of diversity, and that the solution lies in regional government, similar to what we had in the 60s |

I wonder what people like Gowon, Obasanjo and other southern leaders that fought against the Igbos when they've seen this scam called Nigeria from the beginning, what were they thinking? That supporting evil elsewhere will bring justice to them? I laugh. I can only imagine how these pawns feel when they see what Nigeria has become today, of which they were an instrument of it. A total laughing stock globally. Nigeria should split, its just the only way. Northern Nigeria are similar to the Malian and Chadians, and south more to the Ghanaians and Ivorian. And the south seamlessly compliments each other culturally and linguistically. Like MLK once said, "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere". The Igbos were bastardized in the quest for justice, and now, every other ethnic group will suffer for this. The Nigerian story. 7 Likes 1 Share |

I remember reading somewhere that he had to lay low because of fear that he would be killed by the northern masses, since he was a southern Christian. Either way, Im sure he now regrets preventing Banjo and the Biafrans from entering the SW |

A young gal not up to 20years became popular just because she's an advocate of green energy and u still think oil is valuable in the nearest future. Doesn't that ring a bell to you?... Where will u sell it? Africa? The continent with the largest number of poor countries... Do u think it's countries like Malawi, ivory coast, cameroon that give Nigeria the revenue to run their government with oil sales? U are the one taking the foolish stance here bro Plastics are causing global warming, flooding. Fertiliser have adverse effects on some crops... And u still think oil is the future The fact that Elon musk gets richer daily through the sales of electric cars should tell u how fast the world wants to move away from oil... And here u are... Aconomist: I've seen the scam called Nigeria long ago even before I was 20, its the major reason why I left it. But like home, its hardly forgotten since one spent beautiful childhood memories there, grandma and friends still live there and the food you can't easily divorce from. I've been to even countries such as Ghana, ivory coast and even in Europe, far smaller in economy than Nigeria and they are doing well. I see yorubas and Igbos there fraternizing peacefully and imagined how it would be if it is extended politically. It would be paradise. The yorubas with their intellectuals and the igbos with their industriality, all living side by side under a structured federation, who would want such beautiful union? Perhaps, I'm idealistic, but well... I think a way to start the Nigerian discussion for dissolution should be as common as nollywood, because outside of the online space, it seems like the youths who are the majority are not even concerned about the future of their country, the only place they can certainly call home. Right now, you're more likely to be poorer in the future than now, and probably richer in the past than the present. What kind of country is that? A place where regression is guaranteed, and bunch of clueless leaders leading educated folks? Its so sad. 11 Likes 2 Shares |
